I bought 3 sockets (Dorman 923-034 Tail Lamp Socket), for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. These sockets go bad in time, and the Dorman sockets I purchased a couple of months ago would not work. They were totally useless because the contacts inside the sockets were either too short, or loose! I was skeptical, but I purchased 2 more sockets, this time from Mopar Express Parts. I inquired about the sockets in advance via email, and they informed me theirs were OEM! I received them today, they were indeed OEM Mopar parts, and they have the same defect and problem as the Dorman sockets! Translation, they did not work properly, unless you bent up the contact points inside the socket with a flat head screw driver! This allows the socket contacts to touch the metal contact plates inside the tail light assembly with more pressure. Bottom line, you're better off keeping your old sockets, and switching one of the other sockets around. Or, use a flat head screwdriver to adjust the contacts inside the socket.

The part works in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is a little less snug than the old part but I think it should keep water and dirt out of the socket. If your local dealer carries this part then buy it from them locally and save the shipping costs. The shipping costs were more than the part.

I ended up replacing the whole tail lamp assembly because I found burnt marks around the socket. It was not easy to get the socket in correct.

So far, it is working but I got complain that the part it was Mopar brand and it is not. I checked the original an it was even cheaper than this one. Bad advertising in that webpage.

These sockets are available in many places, however, these particular sockets are a really good price, are made very well and fit perfectly. I am very satisfied with this product.
