Apr 3, 2012 One of the hinges is broken at the glass. Have new one to replace, but now sure how to take it apart without breakin anything. As of right now, stuck at how to remove the plate/cover of the hinges. 2 screws from the inside has already been removed.

If you are taking about the third brake light panel area, then you have to raise the rear lift gate, remove weather trim, the pull on the plastic panel, once removed you will access to the screws that hold onto third brake light panel, simply pull it up once the screws are removed.

Yes the plate/trim covering the 3rd brake light. Dont' know how to take it apart. I saw 2 screws inside but not sure of anymore. I'm afraid to prowl it open and break it. 2 screws already removed, what's holding it? Do I need to slide it up, down side to side or something. If you are taking about the third brake light

That area has a total of 6 screws, and 4 plastic tabs, plus double sided tape, at the rear of the panel by the roof line. Be careful pulling it up as the plastic tabs can break off, and you will have to put in double sided tape one you go to re-install it. Also, when you remove the plastic panel cover on the back windshield, there is a wire connector
make sure that it is connected. If your third brake light lights are burned or not working, you can't access them, from what I know, the whole top panel has to be replaced, as the lights are encased.

The picture did not show up it's 2 X in a box.
only 6 screws i see is 4 from the hinges 2 each plus the 2 small one for the plate/trim. So, you guys are saying after the 2 little screws are removed, just pull it up(away)? Holding by 2sided tapes? What about the the plastic tab? how to avoide not breaking it?

I'm curious as to how you broke the hinge? I think I have a rattle from those rear window hinges, I believe the one on the left. They're not that expensive so I'm gonna give it a shot and hope. Drives me nuts at times, I hope that's it. This post will help me too when I'm ready to take a stab at it.

Ok, I think you need to put a picture of what you are trying to change, and what exactly you are talking about as far as 2 screws goes. The general picture you posted up before is just that a general picture. We and I can help you along if you post up precise pictures, as I am not in front of your vehicle, so me looking at what you are trying to
accomplish will help you out in the long run. I have taken this vehicle apart and put it back together to see how hard things are to get to and what can be fixed and what needs to be replaced.

The thread from the hinge is all grinded up. When it rain or car wash it leaks. Dealer recommend replacing both the hinge and the special screw. I'm curious as to how you broke the hinge? this is what I'm talkin bout. The spoiler with 3rd brake light. I think if I can just take this apart, I can see all the screws underneath it. Then I can replace the hinge.

Ok to take that out, there are 5-6 screws that must be taken out, it has 4 plastic retaining tabs, be careful not to brake them when you pull up on that piece, it is also held in place with double sided tape at the rear, near the roof line; you are going to have to use a Gillette to cut away at the double sided tape. Once all that is done pull it up,
and you should have access to the glass retainers, don't forget to disconnect the plug for the brake lights and the washer dispenser hose.

5-6 screws, I'm assuming the visible screws I mentioned. 2 small one for the plate and 4 from the hinges. If not where are they located because I dont see any with retainer tabs. How do I take it out? How can I cut the 2sided tape when I can't even lift it up enuff to see it. Just dont' want to bend or break that darn thing. If you see those two 8mm screws that the manual says, below them there are 3 holes which have the 8mm nuts, once those are removed you can begin to pry up the entire panel, be careful when you do so, cause those plastic retainers will break, once you have them up you will have to use some force to lift up the panel in order to see the double sided tape.
If you still can't see them, I will take pics of it tomorrow so you can get a better understanding.

Here is what it looks like under the trim.
I took a picture of one side and edited it because it's identical anyway.
These are the only screw visible to me.

I circled and pointed out where the other screws are. After you take those out, you can pull up and remove that third brake lights panel.

Rear Tailgate window hinges My right rear hinge broke on my Armada. It looks like the small screw got rusted and snapped off the rubber grommet.
I was able to replace it by removing the spoiler screws then removing the gray panel and removing the additional 2 screws. Once those screws were loose I was able to lift the spoiler just
enough to get my small ratchet wrench with small extension in there and remove the 2 bolts from the window hinge without completely removing the spoiler and electrical connections. I'm posting some pictures so everyone can see. I hope this helps.
I did not run into any 2 sided tape.
I did not have to remove any weather stripping.
I did not use deep socket on my small ratchet wrench, the normal socket was sufficient.
Hint: I pulled out from the socket some to get the long screw
in there to remove and tighten the hinge.
Be Patient and gentle, these plastic parts are delicate.

Replacing the corroded rear window hinges and had one of the studs break (2005 so a little rusty). Can they be removed from the outside? They don't appear to accessible from inside the lift gate door.

Both Hinges broke My 2006 Armada's lift gate window hinges broke, both within weeks of each other! as it stands now, if a decent enough wind hits it, the whole glass is pushed away from the lift gate and I have to get out and push it back down. This is NO BUENO! It appears that the bolts that were holding the glass in plate
rotted/corroded through and broke off. Does anyone know of a solution to this that does not involve me having to get the whole thing replaced? It looks like it's just 2 screws that need replacing but I'm thinking it's way more than that. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
