Jeep has announced a recall of 1.4 million vehicles due to a software issue that may cause the engine to stall.
The problem is said to affect Jeeps from the years 2014-to 2017.
This is not the first time Jeep has had to issue a recall for this reason; in fact, this is the third such jeep recall in as many years.
Jeep owners are advised to take their vehicles to a dealer as soon as possible to have the software updated.
In the meantime, if you own a Jeep and it stalls while you’re driving, be sure to pull over to a safe location and turn off the engine.
Do not attempt to restart the engine until the problem has been fixed.
If you have any questions about this recall, or if you believe your Jeep may be affected, please contact your local Jeep dealer.

Jeep Recall #1

Cherokee

• Chrysler issued jeep recalls for 75,364 units of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee SUV over reports of a fire risk
• Airbag software issues prompted Chrysler to add 62,148 units of 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee SUVs to an earlier recall it issued
• Recalls issued by Chrysler for 228,181 units of 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee SUVs were borne out of cases of sudden airbag deployments triggered by sharp-maneuvering drivers
• The 2014 Jeep Cherokee SUV is among the models included in Chrysler’s recall of 10,400 units that also include the Dodge Durango SUV, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee (SRT and non-SRT) SUV, over recorded cases of sudden unintended acceleration pointing to the models’ cruise-control systems
• Chrysler included 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee SUVs in its recall of more than 1.4 million units due to possibilities of vehicle remote-hacking

Commander

• Possibilities of engine stall due to an ignition switch problem prompted Chrysler to include 2006 and 2007 Jeep Commander SUVs in its recall of 729,300 units, which also include 2005, 2006, and 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs
• Chrysler issued a recall for 469,000 Jeep recalls, including 2006-2010 Jeep Commander SUVs, due to transmission problems that causes unmanned shifts from Park mode into Neutral mode

Compass

• The 2014 Jeep Compass SUV is among the 522 vehicles recalled by Chrysler alongside the 2014 Jeep Patriot SUV, 2013 Dodge Avenger, and Chrysler 200, all of which are equipped with 2.4-liter engines that are touted to have engine oil pressure loss issues that may lead to a sudden engine stall or failure
• An airbag problem reported on the 2010-2012 Jeep Compass SUVs and 2010-2012 Jeep Patriot SUVs led Chrysler to recall 254,396 units of those models
• Chrysler cited the fuel-tank transfer tube problem involving the 2012 Jeep Compass SUV and 2012 Jeep Patriot SUV as its reason to recall 30,000 units of those models

Grand Cherokee

• Airbag deployment issues urged Chrysler to recall 284,089 units of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV and 2003 Jeep Liberty SUV A large amount of Jeep Recalls!
• The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the models tagged by Chrysler (aside from the 2012-2013 Dodge Durango SUV and 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee) in its recall of 467,480 units fitted with 3.0-liter diesel engines, which are suspected of a fuel-pump relay problem that may cause engine stall or failure
• Loss of stability control over glitches in the steering software has led Chrysler to recall 184,186 units of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV and 2014 Dodge Durango SUV
