Are you considering buying either the CR-V compact SUV or the Pilot midsize SUV? To help you with your buying decision and find out the differences between the two Honda SUVs, we created this 2022 Honda
CR-V vs. 2022 Honda Pilot comparison. In this 2022
Honda CR-V vs. 2022 Honda Pilot comparison, we evaluated several different areas. This includes performance, fuel economy, towing, off-road capabilities, safety, passenger and cargo space, interior features and technologies, warranty coverage, reliability, and price. On the performance front, the 2022 Honda CR-V offers two powertrain options: a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (190 hp) and a hybrid (212 hp). In comparison, all 2022 Honda Pilot models come equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which produces 280 hp. The Pilot also has quicker acceleration. It
can go from 0-60 mph in as low as 5.9 seconds, compared to 7.5 seconds for the CR-V. For efficiency, the CR-V has the advantage. The gas-powered CR-V gets an estimated fuel economy of up to 30 combined mpg, and the CR-V Hybrid has a gas mileage of 38 combined mpg. In comparison, the Pilot has an estimated fuel economy of up to 23 combined mpg. If you need an SUV that can tow, then the Pilot is the better choice for you. It has a maximum towing capacity
of 5,000 pounds, compared to 1,500 pounds for the CR-V. While both SUVs offer a traction-enhancing all-wheel drive system, the Pilot is the only model that offers an off-road-focused trim with the Pilot TrailSport model.
Features in the Pilot TrailSport include a lifted suspension and protective cladding. The CR-V is safer than the Pilot. Unlike the Pilot, the CR-V earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award. The Pilot is bigger than the CR-V, resulting in more interior space. It has a total passenger volume of 152.9 cu-ft and
a maximum cargo capacity of 83.9 cu-ft. In comparison, the CR-V has a total passenger volume of 105.9 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 75.8 cu-ft. The Pilot has the advantage for interior features and technologies. Unlike the CR-V, the Pilot offers rear-seat audio controls, a rear entertainment system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a rear climate control system, cooled front seats, and heated rear seats. For warranty coverage, both the CR-V and Pilot have the backing of a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. The CR-V is
more reliable than the Pilot, though. It earned a J.D. Power reliability rating of 84/100, compared to 79/100 for the Pilot. Which Honda SUV costs more: the 2022 CR-V or the 2022 Pilot? The starting price of the 2022 CR-V ranges from $26,400 MSRP for the LX trim up to $37,400 MSRP for the Touring Hybrid trim. In comparison, the starting price of the 2022 Pilot ranges from $37,580 MSRP for the Sport trim up to $51,370 MSRP for the Black Edition trim. Please
note: These prices are subject to change, as many automakers are increasing the price of cars with the high inflation costs. In this 2022 Honda CR-V vs. 2022 Honda Pilot comparison, each Honda SUV has various advantages. For the 2022 CR-V, advantages include fuel economy, safety, reliability, and a lower price. Conversely, advantages for the 2022 Pilot include engine output, acceleration, towing, off-road
capabilities, passenger and cargo space, and interior features and technologies. RELATED: 4 Reasons to Buy a 2022 Honda CR-V, Not a Toyota RAV42022 Honda CR-V vs. 2022 Honda Pilot: What are the differences?
