Lunar Silver Metallic 2022 Honda Pilot | Honda

On the performance front, the 2022 Honda CR-V offers two powertrain options: a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (190 hp) and a hybrid (212 hp). In comparison, all 2022 Honda Pilot models come equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which produces 280 hp.

The Pilot also has quicker acceleration. It can go from 0-60 mph in as low as 5.9 seconds, compared to 7.5 seconds for the CR-V.

For efficiency, the CR-V has the advantage. The gas-powered CR-V gets an estimated fuel economy of up to 30 combined mpg, and the CR-V Hybrid has a gas mileage of 38 combined mpg. In comparison, the Pilot has an estimated fuel economy of up to 23 combined mpg.

CR-V vs. Pilot: Towing

If you need an SUV that can tow, then the Pilot is the better choice for you. It has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, compared to 1,500 pounds for the CR-V.

While both SUVs offer a traction-enhancing all-wheel drive system, the Pilot is the only model that offers an off-road-focused trim with the Pilot TrailSport model. Features in the Pilot TrailSport include a lifted suspension and protective cladding.

CR-V vs. Pilot: Safety

The CR-V is safer than the Pilot. Unlike the Pilot, the CR-V earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award.

The Pilot is bigger than the CR-V, resulting in more interior space. It has a total passenger volume of 152.9 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 83.9 cu-ft. In comparison, the CR-V has a total passenger volume of 105.9 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 75.8 cu-ft.

CR-V vs. Pilot: Interior features and technologies

The Pilot has the advantage for interior features and technologies. Unlike the CR-V, the Pilot offers rear-seat audio controls, a rear entertainment system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a rear climate control system, cooled front seats, and heated rear seats.

CR-V vs. Pilot: Warranty coverage and reliability

For warranty coverage, both the CR-V and Pilot have the backing of a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. The CR-V is more reliable than the Pilot, though. It earned a J.D. Power reliability rating of 84/100, compared to 79/100 for the Pilot.
