This course is for healthcare professionals such as nurses, paramedics, EMTs, Dentists and Dental Assistants, nursing students, EMT students, and other EMS personnel who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. OPTION 1: ClassroomThe Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
**CAPCE credit must be claimed within 6 months of attendance. CEH/CME/CE credit will no longer be available to claim for this activity after the 6 month claiming period.** For professions other than EMS, Continuing Education may still be available. Visit the American Heart Association online or call Obsidian for more information. OPTION 2: OnlineHeartCode BLS® is the eLearning component of BLS blended learning. It uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills. After completing the eLearning component, students will attend a structured Instructor led course that focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols and skills testing. HeartCode BLS® is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the BLS Course. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session. Is BLS and HCP the same?BLS has replaced the HCP (Healthcare Provider) course. BLS is a more accurate and up to date version of the HCP course.
How do I get my BLS certificate from AHA?The AHA offers options for how you can purchase BLS. You can take a full classroom course, take a blended learning course (HeartCode BLS + a hands-on skills session training), or purchase additional course materials.
Is BLS HCP the same as CPR C?C – CPR Sequences on Adults, Children and Babies. BLS – NEW – replaced CPR Level HCP – Additional CPR skills for Health Care Providers/Professionals.
