This video-based, Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in- and out-of-hospital settings. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Prevention and Support is a mandatory 9-hour training including a 1-hour lunch break. This course will focus on positive relationships, positive behavioral support, proactive strategies and how to identify a true behavioral emergency. Students will also learn how to calmly respond and support individuals with challenging behaviors. Students will learn which emergency physical intervention techniques to use when a behavioral and/or physical emergency is in progress. This course is required for all staff working in DDD, care homes and day programs. This certification is valid for 3 years. Prevention and Support training involves physical techniques that will require the participants to participate in some strenuous activity. This course is not recommended to individuals with these certain physical conditions, but not limited to, knee injuries, back injuries, pregnancy, spinal cord injuries, inability to use any body part normally. The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic childcare and basic first aid. Also includes proper child supervision, safety walk-through, choking hazards, water hazards, SIDS awareness, hand washing, feeding an infant and a child, burping, diapering, removing gloves, handling a crying baby, recognizing an emergency, personal safety, head / neck injuries and when to call 911. CPR will be demonstrated for Child and Infant however there will not be a full CPR certification provided. This course is recommended for youth from ages 11 - 16 years old. Our purpose of holding this course is to provide an avenue for Medical Professionals to obtain or renew IV insertion skills and obtain CMEs; CEUs for their respective licensing boards. This course is open to Doctors, PAs, NPs, Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, various medical and nursing students as well as ancillary persons involved in IV insertion. This may include Naturopathic MAs who need to refresh their skills. It will also include some phlebotomy practice for those needing to participate in initial needle insertion techniques. A variety of devices will be reviewed and used to gain a broad base of needle and catheter usage. You will have opportunities to practice as many insertions as you need to build confidence in your ability. Calculations for IV solutions will also be covered. A Certificate of Participation will be issued at the completion of the course. Course Structure:This is 12-hour, two-day weekend course, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Each day consists of instruction and skills demonstration and practice followed by an exam at the end of class on Sunday. Curriculum:The IV Insertion Techniques course reviews basic IV insertion techniques.
 The 48 Hr Paramedic Recertification course meets the guidelines for State of Arizona EMCT recertification and National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) recertification. NREMT recertification for Paramedic requires a total of 60 hours of continuing education. This course will provide the 30 hours for the National Component of NREMT recertification, 15 additional hours for the State requirement, and 3 hours towards the Individual requirement.
