Why did Avis charge me $250?

When you select pay now instead of pay later, as your payment option, you must pass a credit authorization. Your card will be charged the amount of the rental plus a $250 minimum hold for credit and debit cards at the time of rental. When you return your vehicle Avis will release the unused portion of the hold.

Can I get a refund from Avis?

If you wish to cancel before your rental pick-up time, you must cancel and request a refund online. Once cancelled, we will credit you within approximately seven business days.

What is the grace period for Avis?

There is a 29-minute grace period for returns. After 30 minutes late, a 3/4-day late charge + $. 01 + taxes apply. After 90 minutes late, full-day late charges + taxes apply.
