A bed and breakfast with more than 100 years of history in St. Augustine recently sold for $2,070,000, according to data from the St. Johns County Property Appraiser's office.

Donna and Scott Forbes sold the 10-room Southern Wind Inn at 18 Cordova St. on Dec. 20 to KRP Properties V from Valdosta, Georgia. The business is one of a few connected firms with a similar name that own motels and other properties in Valdosta.

The original asking price was nearly $2.5 million.

The Forbes said in an April interview with The Record that they operated their business for 19 years and wanted to retire.

"I'll really miss the activity and the guests, and telling people all about what is so great about St. Augustine," Scott Forbes said at the time.

Scott Forbes said Monday that to the best of his knowledge, the new owner plans to keep the property operating as a bed and breakfast.

A representative for KRP Properties V could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday.

The home was built in 1916 and has been changed since then, according to the property's Florida Master Site File historic properties inventory form. The structure features round wood columns and turned balusters, as well as Southern hospitality touches such as wrap-around porches.

"Residents of this house at 18 Cordova St. include prominent physician, Dr. A. Clarke Walkup and his wife, Edna, and members of the Oliveros family," according to the document. "John D. Oliveros, an inspector for the city sanitary department and manager of the Charles F. Hamblen Club, and his wife, Mary S., occupied the house. The Oliveros family members descend from Minorcan ancestors who arrived in St. Augustine around the time of the New Smyrna colonists in 1777."
