The reality television series is inspired by "Black Ink Crew" and follows the lives of the staff at 9Mag, an African American owned tattoo shop in Chicago. Season 1 starts with the crew celebrating the shop's first birthday, but when they get a surprise visitor the drama begins. As the season progresses, all crew members have to deal with various issues: Ryan receives bad news and has a meltdown, Don and Ashley have relationship troubles, Phor follows his dream of becoming a professional musician, Van has to face criminal charges, and Kat's ego almost runs 9Mag into the ground.
