The Blue & You Foundation, the company’s charitable organization, donates roughly $2 million in grants each year to programs dedicated to improving the health of Arkansas residents. In 1946, the Arkansas Medical Society and Arkansas Hospital Association joined in the pursuit of creating a statewide medical insurance program. Beginning with the John Marshall Co. and later creating the Arkansas Medical and Hospital Service Inc., the two entities worked with other investors to create a non-profit venture that later became known as Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
