So either install a new Briggs ATS or a new Generac generator.
How does a dual power automatic transfer switch work?Once installed, they can automatically switch between electricity coming from your utility and generator power. When the transfer switch detects a power outage, it switches your home to generator power. Afterward, it detects when the power is restored and switches your home back to utility power.
How long does an automatic transfer switch last?An automatic transfer switch typically lasts at least 20 to 25 years. Relays and contacts in the transfer switch can fail sooner in some situations. Cleaning and maintaining the automatic transfer switch regularly will help it last longer.
