The days of the American station wagon are over. Buick's recent burial of the Regal TourX and Ford's long-expected dismissal of the Flex left the wagon market entirely to foreign competitors. Not too long ago, it seemed as if American wagons were undergoing a resurgence. As a little refresher the second generation of the CTS-V came with a 556-hp supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V-8, rear-wheel drive, electronic adaptive dampers, and Brembo brakes. We've said very nice things about the way the CTS-V wagon drives and will summarize them here: It drives really well and makes great sounds. A 2014 example we tested finished the figure-eight in 24.8 seconds, just 0.2 seconds off the pace of today's low-slung BMW i8 sports car, and smoked to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. It's safe to say the V wagon is rad, and it easily is one of GM's best and most ambitious cars ever. It ticks nearly every box a car nerd could have, is luxurious, and looks pretty slick, too; without further ado, here' are the examples we found waiting about the internet for a new buyer:

Our first find is a Silver Coast Metallic (that's beige to you and me) over black example with 58,000 miles on the clock. That boring color makes this quite the sleeper, while its highly sought after six-speed manual makes it quite literally a brown, manual-transmission station wagon—the stuff of car dork lore. You can find this CTS-V wagon at a CarMax in Cleveland for a cool $51,998. That's quite a bit less than the $67,125 GM asked for when this bad boy was new in 2014, and not nearly as depreciated as a typical six-year-old luxury car might be.

The next of these rare wagons is a sleek, gunmetal gray example on Bring A Trailer. According to the site, this car has a number of modifications, including . Lingenfelter's 700-hp-plus kit, a Lingenfelter intercooler and water pump upgrades, KW suspension, and an American Racing corsa exhaust system. It does, however, have the automatic transmission, so if you live in a city with heavy traffic on the daily commute this might be the way to go. The current bid for the car as of this writing is $43,000, but we expect that to go up over the next few days.

The third example we wanted to point out to you comes courtesy of Craigslist, in Texas near Fort Worth. This white CTS-V has seen only 21,600 miles of action and comes with options like the Recaro sport seats, manual transmission, and—according to the poster of the listing—the super coveted "strap thingy" option. We don't remember that being on the options list and we aren't sure what it does, but it sounds handy. The seller is asking $62,969 for the clean 2014 car, strap thingy included. 

While we can't speak to each of these Cadillacs' individual conditions or reliability, we will say that provided everything's ideal, they're worth picking up for their performance, rarity, and fringe representation of a now-dead American car format. Happy shopping, wagon lovers.
