Here's what you need to renew your California Physical Therapy license
The information below is a summary of the minimum requirements set forth by the Physical Therapy Board of California. For a more detailed requirements breakdown, please see the board's site.

California Physical Therapy: Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistant (Continuing Education)

Mandatory Subjects:
- 2 hours of Ethics
- 4 hours of Basic Life Support (Can be taken online, as long as the course is comparable to, or more advanced than, The American Heart Association's Basic Life Support Health Care Provider course. To be comparable you must include a hand on skills demonstration with a certified instructor. This is referred to as a blended course. Course participants are issued a wallet certification card to be used as proof of completion.
26 hours are allowed to be completed by home-study. The Life Support Course needs to include a hands-on skill demonstration with a certified instructor in order to be compliant.

The State of California requires that physical therapists complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years in order to renew their licensure. Flex CEUs is recognized as a Continuing Competency Approval Agency by the Physical Therapy Board of California.
