This is what I was trying to tell the OP. Sometimes they ask for those income documents at years end to make sure the occupant still qualifies. Things can go south if their combined income puts them outside of what qualified him for the apartment. It could be anything from a surcharge to eviction depending on management.

I had a few friends that went through the same ****. GF just flipped once they moved in, and these guys had to give up the apartment just to get away. The only thing they managed to take was a TV, video game system or a laptop. GF took the apartment, the whole bed set, Livingroom furniture, 90% of everything, even though they went 50/50 on the furniture. I had to watch these dudes start over from scratch.

It would be funny if two years from now OP BF comes on the forms asking the same question in reverse LOL!!
GF moved in but we broke up, how can I get her off the lease and keep the apt since I was the original lease holder?

I hear that. Living by yourself is the best thing ever! That's not how affordable housing works. Management can claim that they lied on the initial application with the intention of always having 2 people living in the apartment. However, the once you get an apt, you can make more money. No one will. Kick you out.

There's tons of fraud around these apt as is.

You should see what the ASIANS are doing at House 39. Asians signs a lease for market rent and they don't want anyone from management in their apts because they are leasing out bed space for 6-8 others. 5k for 1 bed among 6-8 ? They have guests that never leave. Thats why some of good staff that was there quit.

Regarding House 29:

First off, that's a racist comment. What difference does it make if one ethnic group is allegedly doing something?

And you HAD to CAPITALIZE it?

My advice to you is to STAY AWAY from this site unless you can be civil.

Also, suppose someone is illegally allowing other people to live in the apartment. How does this work from a practical standpoint?

How are these extra people getting into the building? There's a doorman. Does each person also need a key fob? Does the tenant ask the building management for fobs for 10 people?

Its not a racist comment. ITS TRUE. Thats why Victor a gentleman of a doorman quit and went to a more pretigious building. The doormens there don't bother because they can't really tell them apart because he sees so many of them. Why you need a fob to get into a apt? Now they do enforce pet rules

For a forum where every other thread is about affordable housing, how do people here know so little about it?

Even in buildings that require annual recertification, it's only for record keeping. They cannot kick you out.

Now yeah, if you applied as 1 person, then when you move in, there are two people, they can kick you out for that (though even with that, I'd be surprised if it ever ACTUALLY happens).. but 2.5 years later? You've got absolutely nothing to worry about. Affordable housing is not given based on the notion that your life will NEVER change. After 2.5 years, nobody will bat an eye at the idea that someone else is moving in... and there's nothing that disallows that.
