Can you still see someones location if they block you

Location sharing is one of the best means of checking someone’s location on your smartphone and be it on android phone or iPhone. Once you start sharing location with someone, you can easily check and see the person’s current location.

Now one of the question being asked when it comes to location sharing is;

• Can you still see someone’s location if they blocked you?
• You can still share location after blocking
• What of android? 
• How to stop someone from sharing their location with you
• Can someone track you if you block their number?

The straight answer is no. You cannot see someone’s location on iPhone if they have blocked you on their iPhone simply because once you’re blocked on iPhone, location sharing will stop as well.

You may think that blocking someone on iPhone only entails blocking of calls and text messages, but that is not the case as immediately you blocked someone on your iPhone, you have automatically stopped sharing your location with the person or contact on your iPhone.

Let me explain further using the iMessage and Find My App.

On iMessage, if you’re sharing location with a contact on your iPhone and no longer wants to receive text messages or calls from the very contact, then you decides to block the contact on your iPhone.

Immediately you block the person on your iMessage or message app, you will receive a message on iMessage stating that you have stopped sharing location wit the contact.

Below is a typical example of what I’m talking about.

Looking at the picture above, you may think that I purposely tapped on the Stop Sharing My Location buttonon iMessage for the contact, but that is not the case because I only blocked the contact ony message app.

Upon blocking the contact, it will also stop sharing my location with the contact.

This shows to you that once you blocked someone on your iPhone, you have automatically stopped sharing location with the person or contact on your iPhone. And this goes on to answer the question being asked on can you see someone’s location if they blocked you.

For the blocked person or contact, You won’t be able to see the person’s location on iMessage as nothing will be displayed on the person’s profile. This is clear indication that you have been blocked or probably the person stopped sharing location with you. 

Please Note: If you block someone on iPhone and both you and person is sharing location, the person won’t be able to see your location anymore but you are can check and see the person’s location. 

However, if the person goes ahead and block you on his or her iPhone, then it means you won’t be able to check and see the person’s current location.

So this is how location services work on iPhone or on any other Apple device.

On Find My App: Once you block someone on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or the Apple watch, it will automatically stopped sharing location with the person. This also applies to Find My App because if you open find my app to check and see the person’s location, it will not be available to you. 

Instead what you will see will be;

Not Sharing Location.

Immediately you see this while tracking someone on iPhone, it simply means the person is no longer sharing location with you or has turned off Location Services or Share My Location. 

Once you see Not Sharing Location while tracking someone on Find My App, it may be due to the fact that you have been blocked by the person.

You can still share location after blocking

As location sharing automatically stops when you block someone on your iPhone, you can still go ahead to share location with the person while blocking the contact on your iPhone.

It is more like when you turn on airplane mode, it will automatically disable Wi-Fi bluetooth and cellular data. But you can still go ahead and turn on Wi-Fi and bluetooth while airplane mode is enabled on your phone.

Irrespective of the fact that blocking stops location sharing on iPhone, iPad, Mac or the Apple watch, you can still later share your location with the person even if you’re still blocking the person on your device.

All you have to do is to locate the contact on the contact app or iMessage, and start sharing location once again with the person.

To do so,

Open the message app and locate the conversation you had with the contact or tap on the new message icon to find the contact.

Now kindly open the contact profile and right there you will see the option that states Share My Location.

Tap on the Share my location and you will see options presented to you which includes;

• Share for one hour
• Share until end of day
• Share indefinitely

To Share for one hour: This means you will be sharing location with the person for just 60 minutes or one hour and that won’t be exceeded. Once it gets to one hour location sharing will stop working.

Share until end of day: This simply means you will share location with someone until 11:59 pm and once it gets into the midnight, location sharing with the person or contact will stop working.

Share indefinitely: This simply means you will share location with a contact on your iPhone indefinitely until you decide to stop sharing location with the person.

Kindly select any option that suite you best depending on what you want.

Once you tap on any of the options that simply means you have started sharing your location with the person or contact. You should ask the other person to do so because if not, you can’t view or track te person on iMessage but rather the person will only track you.

I do hope to have answerd the question of the on can you see someone’s location if they blocked you? The answer is no because location sharing will stop automatically, once you block someone on your iPhone, iPad or any Apple device.

What of android? 

There is no way we’ll be talking about can you still see someone’s location if they blocked you without mentioning android because location sharing is very much available on android and thanks Google map.

On android, if you block someone on your android phone it won’t stop sharing location with the blocked contact as the blocked contact can still see your location.

It is left for you to stop sharing location with the blocked contact on your android phone or Google map.

However, if you block a Google account on your android phone, they blocked Google account won’t be able to see your location on Google maps.

So if you block a Google account and the Google account you’re sharing location with the Google account, the blocked Google account will never see your location until you unblock the account on your device.

Talking about blocking a Google account, you have to do that on Google map location sharing and not any Google products.

For example, open the Google maps on your android phone and tap on your icon profile name or photo.

Tapping on the icon will bring lots of options which includes location sharing, kindly tap Location Sharing to proceed to the next step. 

On the next screen you will see all the contacts you are sharing location with at the bottom of your screen. Tap on any of the contact which you want to block on your Google maps location sharing.

Right there you will see a hamburger menu option beside the contact name, tap on it and you will see the block option.

Once you have blocked the contact on your Google maps, that’s the final.

The contact won’t be able to see your location until you unblock the contact on your Google map location sharing. And this is how location sharing on Android works, thanks to Google maps.

How to stop someone from sharing their location with you

To stop someone from sharing their location with you, simply turn off location services and share my location on your device.

Once you have done that, it will automatically stop someone from sharing their location with you. You know, this literally means you can’t have access to check and see the person’s current location.

Now instead of turning off your location services and share my location on your phone, you can request the person should stop sharing location with you.

And the is the best option because once someone stop sharing location with you, it means you can no longer be able to see the person’s location on your device.

Can someone track you if you block their number?

 The answer is no. Someone cannot track you if you block their number on iPhone. However, someone can easily track you if you block their number on android. 

This is still similar to the question of the day, can you still see someone’s location if they blocked you.

On iPhone,if you block someone on your iPhone it simply means you have prevented the number or the person from texting you, calling you and also seeing your location.

On Android,if you block someone on the message app, the person will still be able to call your number. If you block someone on the phone app, the person will still be able to send a text message to you.

Because of this, someone can track you if you block their number on Android phone.
