Does anyone have idea about how to make Apple ID without a phone number I was able to do it with iOS 13. And make the account verified through a code sent to gmail but now I can’t

press set up as a new iPhone. then press makes new apple id.

After that there will be small letters somewhere on the screen do not use apple id. go through the process clicking the prompts that come up then log in after the phone is activated and you will be able to get your verification text.

I don’t want to reset my phone

I am usually signed out from my Apple ID account on my Mac (partially to avoid the notorious iCloud reminder) and log in only occasionally, e.g. to obtain/purchase new apps from the AppStore.

When trying to log in today, there was some “account security“ (2FA?) popup, first asking for my phone number, then, after choosing “other options“, I was asked to agree to the iCloud terms and conditions…

What’s that? Why would I have to give them my phone number or agree to iCloud (no idea what would happen after that). I am not using iCloud and not planning to do so.

I use the Mac only stationary and I am the only user, so no real need for 2FA. Why can’t I just log in just normally?

Tl;dr - Trying to set up an Apple ID on an iphone SE (iOS 12.1.3) without a phone number. Anyone have a work-around?

I'm trying to create an Apple ID on an iOS 12.1.3. iphone SE. I tried setting one up by going through both the App store, and through "Settings". In either case, I'm asked to provide a phone number toward the end of the creation process - to "authenticate" the account. I do not have a phone number - I intended to use WhatsApp and iMessage on this phone instead.

Even if I select the "get a free iCloud email address" option - it still requires a phone number! (no option to send an authentication code to a secondary email address. no option to set up security questions - as was available on previous iOSs)

Contacted Apple - they tell me to use someone else's phone number to set up the account. This makes me feel LESS secure, and frankly, defeats the purpose of two-factor authentication to ensure it's actually me using the device. Apple also says I cannot turn off two-factor authentication once I turn it on ... but I didn't turn it on ... this is the first time I'm attempting to even set up an account! In fact, I can't find a setting on the iphone that discusses two-factor authentication options at all!

Found this website: https://appleid.apple.com/#! to set up Apple ID - requires phone number. Asked Apple if I could downgrade to a lower iOS where I could just set this up with security questions - they will not discuss that as an option.

Is there a secure(ish) way to download apps without having to go through app store?

Even if I used someone else's phone number to create the account, I don't know that I would be able to remove the number after set-up(leaving no phone number asigned to a created account). I'm running out of ideas and patience. Anyone know of a work around to setting up an acct without a phone number??

Apple requires two factor on every new Apple ID to my knowledge, so I don't think you can get around this.

I had made an Apple ID without a phone number a few months back. When I tried that method now, I’m not able to do it. Has Apple made any recent changes to the creation of an Apple ID?
