Fitbit versa 2 vs versa 3 reddit

My Versa 2 recently died. I really enjoyed the watch and its features. Only thing I would have added is the ability to make/take phone calls and a GPS because for the price and the “longevity,” I would prefer this being more of a smart watch, rather than a standard fitness tracker. I bought the Versa 4 because it was the newest model and I got a sweet deal for preordering from Target, and 4 days in, I’m severely disappointed and will be returning it. GPS never has any signal and the phone feature isn’t even working yet. That, plus all the stuff they took away doesn’t make this seem worth it.

So I’m trying to make a decision, buy another Versa 2 that I know I’ve enjoyed or upgrade to a Versa 3? From what I’ve read, some people have it really out for the Versa 3. Thoughts?

I answered your other thread. The only thing that the Versa 2 has going for it over the Versa 3 is that you can store your own music on it and play it from the watch. But you lose the ability to take calls from your wrist. And it runs on a completely different version of the OS. In terms of Garmin, I am tempted by the new Venu2 2+, but it's $500 US and that's way too much (for me) to spend on a watch. It's the only Garmin watch (that I know of) that allows you to take calls from your wrist and respond to messages with voice to text, which are both dealbreakers for me.

I have the Versa 2, which only has Amazon Alexa for an assistant. With Versa 3 you have the option of Alexa, or Google's Assistant. Plus, Versa 2 has a battery life of about 4 days before needing a charge, and the Versa 3 is rated for 6 days. With Versa 2, you can load songs right to the device with onboard storage, which is not available in Versa 3. And Versa 3 has its very own GPS capabilities built-in to the watch, where the Versa 2 relies on your phone's GPS for location data.

I’ve tried looking for a genuine Versa 2 vs Versa 3 post here but they weren’t too recent so now that some more time has passed, I’m wondering if anyone’s opinions have changed!

First time Fitbit buyer, and the Versa 2 will be on sale at Kohl’s for $129.99 with $30 Kohl’s cash. The Versa 3 will be on sale for $199.99 with $60 Kohl’s cash.

I’m interested in mostly sleep/fitness tracking with the added perks of a “dumb” smartwatch. I don’t care for replying to others on it but I would appreciate the notifications. I like Alexa integration, don’t care for Google Asst. just yet. I’ve heard the change in straps and chargers is beneficial, except for those who have the old straps and can’t use them anymore. Should I expect future Fitbits to have the new strap system?

I see that the Versa 2 has music storage on it, and I’m not quite sure the Versa 3 does? Can someone confirm that? I only have a Spotify premium subscription, so do I even have the option to store music on these so that I don’t have to lug my phone around with me?

What’s with Fitbit devices (I’ve mostly seen Versa 2 issues) crashing and burning after a year? Do they roll out updates for Versa 2 anymore? Do you expect the same to happen with Versa 3?

I have an iPhone 11. I’m aware they have Apple watches but I am very interested in accurate sleep tracking, which I’ve heard Fitbit is the master of. And I’d like to try Fitbit out first. I’m leaning towards the Versa 2, but there’s a part of me that thinks I should just get the Versa 3 because it’s newer and won’t go to crap as fast. Help! TIA!

They are both, at their core, identical. I have the Versa 2 and haven't noticed any accuracy issues but then I haven't used a Versa 3 to check that claim. The Versa 2 is also cheaper than the Versa 3.

Thank you for replying . Cost is also one of my considerations ☺️

On the contrary, Versa 3 HR sensor is absolutely terrible, Versa 2 one is ok, almost at pair with competitors.

This does it for me . Thank you 👌

I've had my Versa 2 for eighteen months now , no problems with it whatsoever and plenty of data even without the subscription. Battery life is great as well along with quick charging when needed..

My biggest issue with the Versa 3 is the side button is really sensitive. I have to wear it pretty far up my wrist to not pause my workouts, where I didn't need to with the 2

Hey guys can you tell me what the differences are between the Versa 3 and 2? They look slightly different I think. They seem to mostly be the same though. I can get a Versa 2 really cheap so might be a better option for me.

Also are Versa 3 bands compatible with the Versa 2?

The bands are not compatible.

I actually just bought a versa 2 off eBay because my kids lost the charger for my versa. The 2 has everything I’d want and need including Alexa so that’s cool. Looks like the 3 has gps for on the go tracking. I’d never run without my phone so it’s not a big thing for me

This. I have the Versa 2 because I didn’t need GPS from my watch—I always have my phone when I’m out. I also considered ratings. Versa 2 seems to have loads more reviews online than the 3 and the star rating for it is just a little bit higher.
