Sep 21 - Oct 02 Art in Our Gardens –
Exhibit Ladew Topiary Gardens, 3535 Jarrettsville Pike, Monkton. 10:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Exhibit will remain open for viewing and purchase.
Sam Robinson sees many exciting parallels between his life and that of Harvey Ladew. In addition to gardening, Harvey Ladew loved horses, fox hunting, travel, the arts, and socializing. Sam is well known for his scenes of timber racing, fox chasing, and local landscapes. Ladew’s beautiful gardens, as well as gardens created by Sam’s wife
Barbara, and scenes from their travels are also favorite motifs. Additionally, Sam paints luscious interiors, dynamic gatherings and portraits. We are thrilled to have Sam with us at Ladew this year and look forward to seeing all those things that Harvey loved celebrated in paint.
Sam’s beautiful paintings are characterized by a fluent painterly realism. Gouache is one of his favorite mediums. Portable and quick, it makes up most of his direct work done from life. Oils are his primary
medium for larger studio work.
“In today’s saturated world of digital photographic images, the point of painting is the handmade mark and the poetic interpretation of the life around us.” Sam Robinson.

• https://www.harfordhistory.org. Sep 23 - Sep 24 Phoenix Festival Theater Presents: Grease Harford Community College, Chesapeake Center, Bel Air. 07:00 PM
Book, music, and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. “Grease” is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. a Concord Theatricals
Company.
Artistic director: Cathy Koncurat.
Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased
Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie.”
For beginners. These sessions are meant to help women, of any age (14+) or disposition feel confident in themselves.
You will learn how to properly
strike and defend from those same strikes, escape body/clothing grabs, protect yourself if taken to the ground, and more.
Anyone can learn Krav Maga, the hardest part is just getting started. Once you start, you’ll immediately discover you don’t have to be strong, flexible, or even “in-shape” to be able to effectively (and practically) defend yourself.

24 Tidewater Players presents: CATS The Cultural Center at the Opera House, 121 N. Union Avenue, Havre de Grace. 08:00 PM
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Lyrics by T.S. Eliot. Additional Lyrics by Richard Stilgoe.
Tidewater Players is beyond thrilled to announce the lead-off show of their 2022-2023 season with the groundbreaking international mega-hit, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS. The record breaking Tony Award, Olivier Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics
Circle Award, and Grammy Award winning mega-musical promises, under the direction of Bambi Johnson (last season’s surprise hit The Spongebob Musical), to be an immersive evening of spectacle and art the likes of which has never been seen in the history of the Opera House, or anywhere near, when the entire theatre becomes the Jellicle playground in the junkyard. Lloyd Webber was inspired to set T.S. Elliot’s 1939 children’s book of poems Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats to music, and in
collaboration with award winning director Trevor Nunn and choreographer Gillian Lynne, the rest is theatrical history. Once a year, the Jellicle Cats come out to play on the night of the Jellicle Ball, when Elliot’s feline characters The Rum Tum Tugger, Skimbleshanks, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Mungojerrie, Rumpleteaser, Gus, Grizabella and others sing their stories for Old Deuteronomy who will determine which cat deserves to ascend to the Heavyside Layer and return in a new Jellicle life. Lloyd
Webber’s intoxicating score features a variety of song styles, ranging from jubilant to haunting to heartbreaking, all building to the international mega-hit “Memory”, which has been recorded by over 150 artists including Barbra Streisand and Barry Manilow. Get your tickets now for this visual extravaganza while you can. The slogan for the original show was “CATS….Now and Forever”, but it’s only till September 25th here in Havre de Grace!
Tickets: $18-$22.

Sep 25 Phoenix Festival Theater Presents: Grease Harford Community College, Chesapeake Center, Bel Air. 02:00 PM
Book, music, and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. “Grease” is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. a Concord Theatricals Company.
Artistic director: Cathy Koncurat.
Here is Rydell
High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” and “Alone at the Drive-In
Movie.”
Reserved seating starting at: $18.

Social Hour at 6pm (Fire Hall Studio); Film at 7pm.
Join us for locally-sourced drinks and nibbles, door prizes, and to learn all about what the Green Team does for sustainability-certified Havre de Grace!
Kiss the Ground celebrates the “healing power of the soil.” The film offers a simple yet profound solution to the earth’s climate challenges: restoring our soils to their unique ability to sequester carbon through regenerative agriculture. Carbon
biosequestration leads to “drawdown,” capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing the carbon in our soils. It’s happening right under our feet. It’s as old as dirt. The film is hopeful and inspiring.
The Green Team’s Environmental Film series is currently funded through a generous “Green Grant” from Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE). These films are one part of the Green Team’s community-based educational initiative, and we hope they will stimulate and nurture your
understanding of environmental issues. We welcome your attendance and participation in post-screening discussions.

celebrations in 2023. No sets, no costumes, no props, but lots of talent! Join in the fun with: Paris, 1643. Durante is a charming young man newly arrived in the capital and he has but a single flaw: he cannot tell the truth. In quick succession he meets Clayton, a man servant who cannot tell a lie, and falls in love with hillary’s, a charming woman whom he unfortunately mistakes for her friend lucas. What our hero regrettably does not know is that Clarice is secretly
engaged to his best friend, Alcippe. Nor is he aware that his father is trying to get him married to Clarice, whom he thinks is Lucrece, who actually is in love with him. From all these misunderstandings and a series of breathtaking the intricate lies springs one of the western world’s greatest comedies, a sparkling Urban romance as fresh as the day Pierre Corneille wrote it.

609.217.7161 Oct 19 An Evening With Florence Nightingale – A Reluctant Celebrity Harford Community College, Chesapeake Theater, Bel
Air. 07:00 PM
Performed by Dr. Candy Campbell. In sponsorship with the Liriodendron a theater performance (open to the community).
Candy Campbell, DNP, is an award-winning actor, author, and filmmaker. A proud SAG-AFTRA member, she has appeared on stage, film, radio, and television. She co-founded an improv and stand-up comedy group and has since created three solo shows.
Award-winning actor and author, Dr. Candy Campbell, brings Florence Nightingale to life in the 21st century!
Welcome to the world of Victorian England, where women were considered possessions and had no right to obtain higher education, own land, have a bank account, or vote. Pushing back against the status quo, Nightingale was a visionary statistician and social reformer, researcher, author, adventurer, nurse, and population health advocate who, when she returned from the Crimean War (and for the next 50 years), used her celebrity status to influence health policy—on four continents — as a
semi-invalid!
Join Miss Nightingale, as she shows you a new way to think about healthcare — from the way you thought it was, to the way it may become. This character portrayal, by Dr. Candy Campbell and customized for your group, provides a delightful presentation of thought-provoking, fun, and poignant exploration of our current state of health, based on Nightingale’s writings.
She’s witty, she’s wise, and audiences think she’s wonderful. What’s more, Miss Nightingale has an
important call to action for you!

Join us and our community partners as we kick off Homelessness Awareness Month with Off the Streets– A Sleep Out in support of our neighbors experiencing homelessness. This event is not about pretending to be homeless, it’s a demonstration to those experiencing homelessness that we cannot stay indoors while so many remain outside. We challenge YOU — friends, families,
colleagues, churches, youth groups and organizations — to sleep on Leidos Field for this one night. Funds and awareness raised will help our mission to assist families with children and individuals experiencing homelessness achieve independence.
Come out for the sleepout and enjoy the Cowboy Eats food truck, a Kid Zone, DJ, movie on the big screen, homelessness awareness, and more!
$25 – Adults (ages 23+); $10 – Students (ages 13-22); $5 – Children (ages 6-12).
For beginners. These sessions are meant to help women, of any age (14+) or disposition feel confident in
themselves.
You will learn how to properly strike and defend from those same strikes, escape body/clothing grabs, protect yourself if taken to the ground, and more.
Anyone can learn Krav Maga, the hardest part is just getting started. Once you start, you’ll immediately discover you don’t have to be strong, flexible, or even “in-shape” to be able to effectively (and practically) defend yourself.

Presented by the Actors Guild of
Harford Community College. By Sophocles, translated by Oliver A Evans.
Oedipus, the King of Thebes, believes he has escaped the terrible prophecy that has pursued him all his life. Oedipus has defeated the riddling Sphinx, saved the seven-gated city of Thebes, and married the queen Jocasta. They have four children, Eteocles, Polynices, Antigone, and Ismene, and they rule in peace.
But a mysterious plague has recently afflicted the city, bringing death to the people, livestock, and
crops. An Oracle reveals it as punishment for the murderer of the previous king Laius remaining free. Oedipus vows to find this criminal and save his people once again, no matter where he may hide, and in so doing, he is forced to unravel the mystery of his own cursed existence.
This greatest of ancient tragedies, in a fully accessible and modern translation by Oliver A Evans, shines a light on timeless questions of identity, fate, free will, and leadership.

http://www.artinharford.org. Nov 19 - Nov 20 Scottfield Theatre Company Presents Irving Berlin's White Christmas Cultural Center at the Opera House, 121 N. Union Avenue, Havre de Grace. 02:00 PM
Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a
Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, White Christmas is an uplifting musical worthy of year-round productions.
Group rates are available! Individual tickets ranging $18-20.
Bring the whole fantasy team, work crowd, family or friends for a great time watching Baltimore’s favorite football team. Pick up your favorite game day food on the way over and enjoy all 1pm Sunday Ravens’ games in our expansive
tasting room. Receive 10% off bottle sales if wearing apparel of your favorite NFL team during any Purple Sunday.

Nov 20 Oedipus Rex Harford Community College, Chesapeake Theater, Bel Air. 03:00 PM
Presented by the Actors Guild of Harford Community College. By Sophocles, translated by Oliver A Evans.
Oedipus, the King of Thebes, believes he has escaped the terrible prophecy that has pursued him all his life. Oedipus
has defeated the riddling Sphinx, saved the seven-gated city of Thebes, and married the queen Jocasta. They have four children, Eteocles, Polynices, Antigone, and Ismene, and they rule in peace.
But a mysterious plague has recently afflicted the city, bringing death to the people, livestock, and crops. An Oracle reveals it as punishment for the murderer of the previous king Laius remaining free. Oedipus vows to find this criminal and save his people once again, no matter where he may hide,
and in so doing, he is forced to unravel the mystery of his own cursed existence.
This greatest of ancient tragedies, in a fully accessible and modern translation by Oliver A Evans, shines a light on timeless questions of identity, fate, free will, and leadership.
For beginners. These sessions are meant to help women, of any age (14+) or disposition feel confident in themselves.
You will learn how to properly strike and defend from those same strikes, escape body/clothing grabs, protect yourself if taken to the ground, and more.
Anyone can learn Krav Maga, the hardest part is just getting started. Once you start, you’ll immediately discover you don’t have to be
strong, flexible, or even “in-shape” to be able to effectively (and practically) defend yourself.
