Not a very smart water heater

Boca Sports 3/3/2021

The purpose of this heater was to use the wifi capability to control scheduling weekly so we can turn it off evenings and weekends. The smart capabilities on this unit have very limited functions. It can be turned on and off, set temperature and put on vacation mode, but it cannot be set on a schedule. Also, the set up to connect the wifi is very complicated.

Is your hot water heater is more than 10 years old? It might be time to consider a new one. The lifespan of a conventional storage hot water heater is between 10 and 15 years. After all those years of service, sediment build-up and corrosion inside the tank can take their toll.

The GE Platinum GG40T12BXR RealMAX Series gas hot water heater features a 12 year tank and limited parts warranty. GE's RealMAX Series include features like Real Capacity which means their tanks hold what they say they will hold. For example the GG40T12BXR will hold 40 gallons of hot water. They also feature a best-in-class performance that delivers great First Hour Rating. With the GG40T12BXR you will get up to 83 gallons (Measured through DOE First Hour Rating) of hot water in the first hour of use. The 40,000 BTU burner allows for maximum performance to quickly aid in replenishing the hot water in your tank. Rest assured that this large 40 gallon hot water heater will provide sufficient hot water for the whole family. It is intended to be used for households between 2 and 4 people. Temperature settings range from 45° to 160°.

The GE GG40T12BXR is considered a tall tank in that it is 58-1/2" tall. This tank requires clearances all around and will not fit in a crawl space! Ideally, locating it next to a drain would be helpful for tank maintenance, making it easier to drain. This water heater is for use with Natural Gas. This water heater is also be available in Liquid Propane (GP40T12BXR).

GE's water heater construction includes an Anode Rod, designed to offer long lasting protection against corrosion, helping to extend the life of your water heater. Additionally, a rust-proof brass drain valve will also provide long lasting results. With Ge's SmartShield ™ Safety System your system monitors the surrounding air and automatically shuts off the unit if abnormal temperatures are detected. Out with the old and in with the new - GE's water heaters are easy to install using standard water and gas connections and are probably more efficient in the long run than your old water heater. The unit also monitors and reports on the system status with LED status indicator light.
