    1. Hamburger goulash with cream of mushroom soup

This was suprisingly good - but I modified it. I don't like mushrooms so I used cream of celery (which I use frequently as my cream of mushroom sub). And I didn't have any veggie soup so I used 1 can of drained corn. Then to add flavor I added in about 1 to 1.5 cups of my Beef and Bacon Chowder (the recipe is available here on zaar). Then I served it over hot lightly buttered and salted rice. It was great! My hubby loved it too. :) Very easy - definitely try it!

    2. Hamburger goulash with cream of mushroom soup

I added uncooked fine egg noodles and just a little water along with the soups, covered the skillet until the noodles steamed. Topped individual plates w/ shredded parmesan cheese. Quick and satisfying weekend lunch-was perfect for a cool fall day. Thanks Ang11002-

Hamburger goulash with cream of mushroom soup

This Easy Goulash is one of those recipes where you pull a few things from your pantry, add some ground beef and it magically becomes a delicious homemade dinner.  Beef and macaroni are always a good start for a family dinner, but this dish is special because of the creamy, spicy sauce.  Save time by making the beefy sauce while the macaroni is cooking.  Pantry staples cream of mushroom soup and picante sauce provide the magic, making this Easy Goulash ready in 2 steps and 25 minutes.  Then sprinkle with shredded cheese while it's hot for a melty, cheesy topping.

    Ingredients

    cost per recipe: $5.52

    • 4 ounces uncooked elbow macaroni (about 1 cup)
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning, crushed
    • 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup or 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom Soup
    • 1 cup Pace® Picante Sauce
    • 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

    Instructions

    • Step 1

Cook and drain the macaroni according to the package directions.  While the macaroni is cooking, season the beef with salt and pepper.  Cook the beef and Italian seasoning in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until browned, stirring often to separate meat.  Pour off any fat.

    • Step 2

Add the soup, picante sauce and cooked macaroni to the skillet.  Cook until the mixture is hot.  Season to taste.  Sprinkle with the cheese (the heat from the mixture will melt it).

Goulash a delicious and very typical hungarian dish. Nothing to do with this variation of "maccaroni & cheese"

I firmly believe it is a lack of respect to call this
      (otherwise easy dish) Goulash.

I was searching the site for something to make with what I already had on hand and only knew that I wanted beef. I found this recipe and thought I'd give it a try. I didn't have the celery or oregano but everything still had good flavor. My only issue is that it wasn't spicy enough. Plenty of leftovers for one person too which I love.

I've been making these tasty favorite for many years. Some of my friends don't eat beef, so I use 2 chicken breasts in its place. Still tasty and the calories even drop down a bit. :)
