Why is there no mist coming out of my ultrasonic humidifier?

Numerous substances are possibly blocking the vibrating membrane. In this situation, your device will produce less mist. Does HoMedics humidifier need distilled water?

If you live in an area with hard water, or use a water softener, it is recommended to use distilled water for better results from your humidifier. Never use water softening additives in your humidifier. Features: Reduces mineral build-up and "white-dust" caused by hard water when used in ultrasonic humidifiers.

How do I clean my HoMedics total comfort cool mist humidifier?

We recommend running a cycle of vinegar and water through the humidifier. Place a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water inside the water tanks and turn the humidifier on for about 30 minutes. You can then use a flexible bottle brush or pipe cleaners to help remove any residue.
