"Food was well above average for dinner. Waiters are all very attentive and made very good recommendations to our party. Breakfast and lunch not very good. Recommend ordering off the menu, not buffet. Gym facilty is the best I've seen in my travels. Staff needs to keep people from hogging certain high demand equipment. Second gym at the Grand was also good for high demand times. Beach is just okay, but the pools are beautiful and drink service can't be beat. All top shelf liquor, some minor complaints from other travelers about beer selection. Hotel in great shape, parking was not well organized and entertainment was average. "
"This is our third time at Iberostar Grand Paraiso and we love it more and more with every visit. Everything from the airport transportation (we used USA Transfer) to the check-in, entertainment, staff, service, food selection and quality to checkout is simply 5 star all around. "
"Awesome! 5 stars guest service "

"It pains me to write a less than stellar review, but my family (4 adults) have been visiting Grand Residences since 2017. Grand Residences has slipped in quality - little by little - over the years to the point where we actually checked out a few days early on our most recent stay and have decided we probably won't be back. The immaculate grounds, personable service, and happy staff at Grand Residences consistently stood out on past visits. This was our first stay under Wyndham's ownership and while most appeared to remain the same on the surface, the quality of items offered, menu options, and staff interactions all went downhill drastically in comparison to previous visits. For example, we were assigned a concierge upon arrival, per usual, but our concierge Gustavo never made himself available to us. Not once. This was not for a lack of effort in trying on our part. In fact, we made 3 separate trips to the lobby in hopes of locating him in an effort to make dinner reservations, learn about nightly dinner themes, etc. My husband successfully tracked him down after dinner one night to make taxi reservations for an early morning trip to Cozumel. Gustavo assured my husband he had taken care of the arrangements and a taxi would be at the resort at 7 am to pick him up. The taxi never showed and after waiting around, finally he had the front desk reception call one for him, causing him to nearly miss the ferry and his pre-scheduled guided day trip. We have had such wonderful experiences with our concierges in the past, some even setting up personalized room service dinners in our suite and just being available. I see other guests were able to text their concierge during their stay, we were never provided any info as to how to contact Gustavo, nor did he reach out to us. We aren't high needs, but it was a stark contrast and a shame compared to previous stays. Many thanks to Griselda who graciously assisted us twice while Gustavo was on the phone (even though it did not go unnoticed Gustavo still didn't come over to us even after he'd finished with said phone call) and made our dinner reservations for us two nights our of stay. The other days we just walked to the restauarants and inquired what they were offering that night and made reservations ourselves. On the topic of restaurants, the food was really disappointing. We never stay at Grand Residences just for the food, as it's never been Grand Residences' strongest point, but combined with great service and happy staff, it was easy enough to overlook. This time it was impossible to ignore. The options are limited to two restaurants (as always). El Faro rotates from international, italian, to seafood, for theme nights, but the quantity of options has decreased along with the quality of what you are served. The themed nights are great in theory, but they now limit the menu so severely that unless you like the *very* few options they are serving that night, you are out"
"My wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending a one week vacation at the Grand Residences Resort. This beachfront luxury resort was truly impressive. The hotel accommodations are state of the art - beautifully designed. All resort amenities and dining rooms were fabulous. The resort is maintained in impeccable condition. We would like to extend a very grateful thank you to the wonderful staff for the great service - they were extremely friendly, caring and professional. The restaurants featured a wide variety of menus as well as dining theme nights. The service and food was outstanding and restaurants are professionally managed by Juan Carlos Garcia. He does a wonderful job leading his team and providing personal attention to all guests providing a spectacular dining experience. We look forward to our next vacation at the Grand Residences."
"A few people really made our trip special. Two people in specific I wanted to mention is the hostess Beatriz working at the El Faro restaurant and our waitress Carolina. Both of these lady's should be promoted and given more responsibility with guest. ( A bonus goes a long way ) They were kind and genuine, reflecting the professionalism of your resort. Additionally I wanted to recognize a few other people: The male manager at El Faro, the concierge and the bingo ladys (our bike tour guides) These 6 people really stood out among employees. Beatiful resort. Peaceful and elequent. Just what we needed.... Thanks 329b"

"We have travelled to El Cid multiple times and have always been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the resort staff. It is an all inclusive resort and we were somewhat disappointed that some of the restaurants were closed each day which means that reservations at the open ones were often difficult to obtain, especially if you want to dine earlier in the evening. This may be in part due to lower occupancy due to COVID and hopefully is not just a choice of the resort For dinner, recommend highly the Italian, Mediterranean, and Teppanyaki restaurants, but the French restaurant did not match the quality of service or food of those I named. Be aware that you will be solicited to purchase what amounts to a time share. A plus is the daily housekeeping service which you will not find at other time shares. All inclusive costs seemed extremely reasonable to us, but the amount varies depending upon your level of ownership. Cleaning and COVID measures was outstanding. This facility values your safety."
"We have never been to this property before and were blown away by the stellar service, the immaculate care of the facility, the amenities and the very reasonable all-inclusive price. There was plenty of wonderful food options with lovely ambiance and service. I brought my boss and his wife, and they kept remarking how surprised they were by the whole experience. They will be back to this resort in the future. My husband and I will be back in 6 months!"
"Location is fantastic other than the beach. The beach that the resort was located on had a crap ton of seaweed so we couldn’t really swim at the beach but no big deal because the pools and jacuzzis here are fabulous! You won’t even miss the beach! Food was amazing, they have a multitude of restaurants there on the resort. All sorts of variety. Room service was a bit slow but it’s also a big resort so can you really blame them? Overall 10/10 would recommend "

"The Five Oceanfront was a pleasant surprise for my wife and me. We typically stay at larger all-inclusive resorts and specifically wanted to try a smaller one. My wife found this by Googling the top resorts in the area, and their larger resort in Playa was on the list, and she found this one by visiting the larger resort’s website. I don’t write many reviews, but when I do, they are detailed; I am particular about a lot of things and appreciate when others write with the same level of detail. We booked a trip for February, but a non-COVID illness forced us to delay the trip. The staff easily accommodated our request to push the trip out 3 weeks with no additional charges. Our visit was 3/18-3/25/21. We were greeted by a modern and stylish entrance. The resort is at the end of the road, with an undeveloped resort property next door. The “front desk” is a large wood table that, from our balcony, looks like the state of Texas, and is similarly large. “Live edge” wood tables are all over the place and in our room. We were on an all-inclusive package (optional at this resort and apparently, is available on a day-by-day basis), and our bracelets were colored string with a logoed wood tile (think Scrabble tile) with an RFID chip on the back for access to our floor and room. That was a nice touch compared to resorts that have plastic color-coded bracelets. The package included a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and a plate of fruit and chocolates in the fridge. 3 of each of these were stocked in the fridge each day: 3 kinds of soda, Sparling water, Heineken and Dos Equis beers. Still bottled water was also in the fridge (think glass coke bottles with water). We reserved a one-bedroom suite. The room was fitted out with a 5-cup drip coffee maker, a 2-burner cooktop, a combo microwave/toaster, and full-size fridge/freezer combo. A 65” (?) Samsung TV was in the family room and also in the bedroom. Unfortunately, the hotel software controlled the TV and changing inputs or using apps was not possible. That would have been nice for the couple of evenings we were in the room early. The living area had modern furniture, exactly as pictured on the website. Our balcony had two cushioned chaise lounges and a two-person jetted tub. The bathroom had double sinks, and a walk-in shower that had the best rainfall shower head we’ve ever had. Many places try, and most fail in providing nice fixtures and decent water pressure. Robes and disposable slippers were also provided. Plenty of room to unpack 2 full-size suitcases and store them out of the way. The sliding doors between the bedroom and living space were quiet to operate, heavy, and thick. This provided a good barrier for me to rise early and get some work done before my wife. I didn’t test the speed of the included Wi-Fi but it was plenty fast for the large files I access online for work. The wi-fi worked seamlessly anywhere on premise and out into the ocean (I only know this because I was receiving texts o"
"When you first walk into The Fives, you are transported to one of the most Chic Boutique hotels you've ever been. to. The atmosphere is electric from the music playing, the helpful staff, and the contemporary style. I was enamored as soon as I walked in. Once I was settled I saw the quality, skill and knowledge of two people that made my trip not only memorable but outstanding! The first gentleman was Jonathan. His knowledge of Mezcal was astonishing. We were able to secure a Mezcal Tasting one of the nights we were there. Jonathan knew his stuff and guided us through an amazing three course dinner. It was breath taking! The second gentleman that was absolutely remarkable was Mauricio. I was blown away by his cocktail making skills. He was able to surprise me time and time again with a new totally fantastic cocktail. He has the skills for me to say that ”He is one of the best craft cocktail makers that I've had the pleasure of being served.” His charisma and personality alone will make you feel at ease but his talent is his gift! Thank you The Fives for a wonderful time!"
"They go above and beyond at this resort. They are eager to answer any questions and help you out in any way they can. The 2 pools (rooftop and one by the beach) along with the beautiful cabanas right on the beach, made our trip so relaxing. We will be back!"
