How much is a bugatti chiron oil change

One of my friends owned a Porsche Boxster in Zanzibar Red that he loved, but it had one annoying problem: every oil change cost him upwards of $250. Compared to the $30-50 that it might cost for an average sedan, that feels like a lot even if you have a Porsche. Now imagine what it might cost you to complete the same service on a $3 million Bugatti Veyron Mansory Vivere.

Does $20,000+ sound about right to you? Because that’s what Royalty Exotic Cars of Las Vegas says that’s what it takes, and 31-year-old owner Houston Crosta decided to do it himself instead of coughing up 20 large.

Reddit users went a little nuts today over Crosta’s video of the process, which was recorded in 2018.

Some of the more amusing comments included “Normal dude on Reddit can't afford a Bugatti; more at 11” and “Pssh, my ‘99 Silverado cost me 500 bucks and it came free with a big ass dent on the driver side.” Oh, Reddit.

Changing the oil in a Bugatti is not a simple process by any stretch of the imagination. There’s not one drain plug; the Veyron's dry-sump oiling system has 16. The 60w oil is thick and difficult to drain. And the air filters, along with the oil change, require removing big hunks of the Bugatti’s beautiful body. The tires, rear fender liners and rear deck have to come off just to get to the areas one needs to access to perform the service.

If you’re going to rent an exotic, there’s no showier place to do it than Vegas, where Royalty Exotic Cars is based. Crosta, who started his career hawking electric scooters on the Las Vegas strip, now owns millions of dollars in supercars that his company rents to tourists for hours at a time, including his Veyron. You can’t commission Crosta’s Bugatti, but you could rent a McLaren 720S for four hours for $799. Or a $500,000 750-hp 6.5L V12 Lamborghini Aventador S for a grand.

YouTube

“No, I’m not broke,” Costa posted on his YouTube channel to erase any doubt. “I just thought it was a fun project and yes, I have a clear protective film all over the car. Here is our first time taking the Mansory Bugatti apart.”

This falls into the if-you-have-to-ask-you-can’t-afford-it territory. If you don’t have an annual $20K ready for your Bugatti’s oil change, you might want to consider a Boxster instead.

There's a wise saying that states something along the lines of "If you're going to buy one Ferrari, you better be able to afford two of them," and while that probably isn't anywhere how the saying goes, the sentiment is there.

This adage rings true to any supercar or hypercar, especially when you're talking about something like the Bugatti Veyron, which is powered by a quad-turbo W16 engine.

Off the bat, Veyron buyers had to fork out upwards of $1 million, and based on this alone, you know that services are going to be pricey — but how pricey are we talking here?

According to an American YouTube channel by the name of Royalty Exotic Cars, an oil change in his Veyron would typically set him back around US$21,000 (or about $30K NZD).

Couple this with tyres that cost around $60,000 per set, and you've got a supercar that not only is out of reach in outright cost, but also in maintenance costs.

To avoid this ridiculous price of an oil change, this YouTuber decided to do it himself, and unsurprisingly, it's quite an undertaking.

To access all 16(!) oil drain plugs of the Veyron's dry-sump system, almost every single carbon fibre body panel has to be removed from the rear of the car, alongside the rear wheels and fender liners.

The W16 engine also uses 60W oil, which is very thick, and takes a long time to drain from the Veyron's 16 cylinder engine.

Have you finally saved up enough money to buy your first hypercar? Well, congratulation! Considering you will get through the stringent vetting adopted by most of the hypercar manufacturers, you’ll first want to get a good understanding of the staggering ownership cost of a limited production high-performance car. A Malaysian man named Muhammad Al Qawi Zamani who recently visited Bugatti Singapore has given a detailed account of the costs of owning a 2021 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, which can give you a fair idea of how expensive it can get. I’ll suggest grab a chair and sit down as the maintenance cost of a Bugatti can make you dizzy in disbelief.

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is an ultra-limited edition hypercar that has a base price of $3.5 million, so no one really expects the maintenance cost to be affordable by any measure. However, the numbers quoted by Zamani are insane. The costs listed by Zamani are in Malaysian Ringgit, which have been converted to USD to make it easier for you. The post mentions that all Bugatti models are officially serviced and maintained by a small team of 10 mechanics across the globe. First on the list is engine oil that is required to be changed every 14 months or 10,000 miles, priced at $25,000. The wheels are also required to be changed at a regular interval, which costs a whopping $50,000 without the tires. Different tires are available for the hypercar which will set you back by around $8000 a set. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R TR tires for optimal performance are worth $42,000 a set.

If those numbers gave you a mini heart attack, wait till you read some of the more trivial items on the list like wiper blades that cost an eye-watering $3800. Additionally, Bugatti will charge you an equivalent of $29,000 for things like engine tuning, calibration, and other adjustments necessary needed after a full service.

If you total all the costs, it comes to about $100,000 for every 14 months. There is some good news, though. Dealerships might offer up to a 30% discount on the service charges. Bugatti also offers maintenance plans to its owners that bundle up all the services at a lower cost, but that won’t make a world of difference either. So, yes, be ready to pay the equivalent of a Tesla Model S every few months to maintain a hypercar in case you decide to buy one.

How much is an oil change in a Lamborghini?

An oil change for a Lamborghini costs about $1,000, but prices will vary between models. Some are as low as $400, while others can cost up to $2,000. The majority of these costs are for labor fees, as they're far more complicated to service, taking 3+ hours to do what normally only takes 30 minutes on a normal car.

What is the price of Bugatti engine oil?

That's not all, a service would cost USD 30,000 (Rs. 19.48 lakh) and the oil service alone costs USD 20,000 (Rs. 12.99 lakh)! Now that's one really expensive affair!
