A = 2(wid th × length) + 2(length × height) + 2(height ×  width)

We can use common abbreviations for width (w), length (l) and height (h) and recast the formula:

A = 2wl + 2lh + 2hw

We can simplify that by factoring out the 2:

Let's build our equation for surface area of a rectangular box starting with our cube formula:

A = 6a2

A = 6452

A = 62,025

A = 12,150 cm2
