Baked chicken wings are something that I don’t make very often as only a few members of my family enjoy the wing part of the chicken. Most of my family members prefer the breasts or drumsticks. However, I decided to buy a fresh pack of chicken wings from the meat section in the grocery store the other day and my family devoured them! They were very grateful for how well seasoned they were. I also baked them for the perfect time for my oven. About 30-35 minutes at 450°F was all it took. If you like chicken or even better, chicken wings then I hope you try this recipe and enjoy it too!

I created a delicious dry rub that my family adores. This dry rub is very versatile and can be used as a seasoning for other meats too. Try it on turkey or steak! I am sure you are wondering what makes up this dry rub I am speaking of. Well, It consists of: garlic powder, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, lemon pepper and salt. I did not add any additional black pepper because the lemon pepper seasoning already gives it enough of a peppery kick. I always keep a jar of my dry rub seasoning on hand so I can whip it out whenever I want to whip up a meal quickly. Just like the day I decided to make these Baked Whole Chicken Wings.

After washing the wings, be sure to pat them dry really well. This will ensure that they get a nice brown color in the oven instead of just steaming. You might need to take a paper towel and squeeze the wet wings really well. Be sure to get all of the moisture out. Next, place the wings in a large bowl and pour the dry rub on the chicken wings. Then, pour a bit of olive oil on the wings and generously rub the seasoning and olive oil into the wings.

Whether it be a whole chicken, chicken legs, chicken thigh, chicken breast, or chicken wings like this recipe calls for, the dry spice rub truly is versatile. The dry rub brings a unique blend of flavors. The garlic powder and smoked paprika components give a deep flavor. The lemon pepper and salt give the wings that zing and zest needed. The Italian seasoning brings a comforting and familiar flavor.

Next, lay the wings on a sheet pan covered with foil. Be sure to leave some room in between them so they can brown on all sides. Bake at 450°F for about 30-35 minutes. They will have a nice brown outer skin and a juicy and delicious meaty inside. I did not add any sauce to my wings since the dry rub did it’s  job in the flavor category. However, if you like saucy wings, dip them in your favorite sauce. Then pop them back in the oven for a few minutes to let the sauce coat the wings. Maybe I’ll try that out next time. That actually sounds delicious as I type this blog! Just be sure to let the wings rest for 10 minutes before eating them. They will stay hot. Trust me. I truly hope you enjoy these wings and add it on your list of go-to foods. Enjoy!
