Many need air to activate. What are good ones that don’t? Was looking at heatmaxx toastytoes

All chemical warmers need oxygen to operate. The difference in ones designed for inside shoes is the chemical makeup is different so that not as much oxygen is needed. Having said that, I find the ones that are like an insole to be better that ones that just stick to your socks and are only at your toes. When I use the insole type, I let
them preheat in the open air or a pocket before putting them in my boots. This gets the reaction going faster. Also, I put them in upside down from what the package states so the reactive part is against my sock instead of the insole of the boot. Agreed the full insole sized ones are the ticket! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Joined Jan 20, 2009 · 528 Posts
Get the hot-hands heated insoles. They are way better than the smaller toe warmers and feel better under your foot. Joined Sep 19, 2017 · 1,900 Posts
I have found that changing my sockets out once setup and cooled off has worked better then anything to keep my feet warm. I'm in the south so all I wear is rubber knee boots.

ordering a box of HOT HANDS insoles and body warmers best ones I have found that work for me ... For sure go with the Hot Hands brand. They seem to work far better than any other brand of chemical warmers that I've tried. The toe warmers, insoles, and body warmers make a huge difference. Joined

I prefer the Grabber brand insoles to the hot hands. Hot hands have an adhesive side that sticks to your socks which I didn't like. The Grabber insoles just sit in the bottom. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Are you stand hunting? I hear very good things about the Arctic Shield boot covers. If I can't get a deer soon, I'll be buying a set to try out this season.

Insulation is only good to hold heat. As your body cools, blood draws away From extremities (hands/feet) to keep our core warm. It’s how nature built us to survive. Dry socks are key. Thin socks to walk in and add wool once on stand or change socks on stand. Use Hotronix foot warmers. Ski industry figured out cold feet 10yrs ago!
Hotronix inserts have batteries that last all day and can be changed if needed. Why the hunting world hasn’t figured this out still baffles me....hunters aren’t necessarily the best at everything so we should look to other sports for their good ideas too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
but better than anything else I used ..when your are freezing the last thing you want to do is take your boot off in the stand
to get air but there is no crying in bow hunting ....thermacell insoles don't get hot
enough for me seems battery power is
an issue with heat..I like the heat of the chemical warmers theres nothing like the body warmers in my hand muff on a cold sit

I have a pair of the gobi socks with the remote. Trying to turn on heated socks with pants tucked into rubber boots was a pain in the butt.

I actually have the arctic shield boot covers. Always heard great things about down boot blankets, such as feathered friends

I just tried the ActionHeat 5v wool socks from the warming store.
I had these on over my danner vitals in 800.
I turned them on 50% this morning at 730a and had instant warmth. My toes stayed warm and it was heat you actually can FEEL.
Later turned them up to 75%. Very warm..almost too much.
Then I accidentally bumped my left sock button
and it went to 100%.
Holy crap. HOT. It says to to only to use this setting for no more than 5 minutes or risk burns. Lol. Supposed to be 150 degrees.
I'm very happy with these socks. Very comfortable. Didn't feel wired on bottom of my foot. I did not use a liner for this trial.
Only ding is it would be nice if the button for temp wasn't so easy to push but I'll manage.

if your feet sweat on your hike in, change into fresh socks once you cool down. Rubber boots pretty much guarantee your feet sweat if you are moving in them. you may not need heated insoles if yore feet arent wet.

I was given a vest made by mobile warming, you install an app on your phone and can control heat with the app, they make socks as well. The vest worked great, once in a while a battery would get unplugged but otherwise it worked great, only draw back is you have to power it up manually not with the app.

If it isn't to cold, I just stick a standard hand warmer on the top of my toes as I'm putting my foot in the boot. It keeps my foot super warm. If it is really cold, I use one of the MEGA hand warmers for each foot/toe. I've never had the warmer bag shift inside my boot where it was interfering with walking and my toe or foot. I bought the
expensive rechargeable footwarmer insole things, and after 1 year on of them died. So, I just went back to the handwarmer thing!
