Wake up the keypad by touching it using the palm of your hand

Step 2

Enter your current master code and then press the hash button. If your master code hasn't been set, it will be automatically programmed to 123456.

Step 3

Then press the number 1, followed by the hash key

Step 4

Enter a new master code, which must contain 6 numbers

Step 5

Press the hash key to complete the setup/change of your master code.

So what to do when you forgot a programming code and want to change a keypad lock?

You have to reset it to the default factory setting to remove the current programming and keypad code to be able to set new keypad and programming code. steps are in detail below in the FAQ

Before stepping into the Reset keypad lock you need to have a few concepts to be clear about the Schlage lock:

• What is the Schlage programming code: Each Schlage lock has its unique programming code, which can be found on a sticker attached to the inside of the battery compartment.

The default programming code is a six-digit programming code that must be input at least once during the initial installation procedure in order for new users to begin using their Schlage locks without having to set any other user codes.

Your default programming code can be found in the documentation that came with your lock or on a sticker near where you purchased it.

• What is the Default User code:  Most Schlage locks have a four-digit user code as a default. Furthermore, the Schlage keypad lock comes with two distinct default four-digit codes.

By default, the manufacturer assigns four-digit user codes when the Schlage lock is supplied from the factory or purchased from an electronics retailer.

These are temporary codes until the user changes the four-digit code later on in the device’s operation.

• Where is the Schlage button: Please note that almost all Schlage keyless entry locks have Schlage buttons, but also some of them Schlage keyless entry locks only have set buttons.

So first how to Reset Schlage Keypad lock?

• 1. Disconnect the batteries.
• 2. Press and Release the Outside Schlage Button.
• 3. Reconnect the batteries.
• 4. Press and hold the Schlage button until the light turns greenand the lock beeps. (Complete this step in 10 seconds).
• 5. To check that the lock was reset enter one of the Default User Codes.
• 6.  If the reset was successful, the lock will perform a setup routine. Wait until the bolt stops moving. The reset and setup are complete.

Note: that this reset method may not work for Schlage Connect and Schlage Encode. If you’ve any of those, try this reset method:

1. Slide the battery cover up to remove it. Next, disconnect the batteries.
2. Press and hold the outside Schlage button.
3. While holding the Schlage button, reconnect the batteries and release the button afterward. This will reset the lock.
4. To confirm if the reset is successful, press the outside Schlage button, then enter one of the preset User Codes (4-digit code). If the bolt moves afterward, it means the reset was successful.

How to Change 6 Digits Default Programming Code?

1. Enter the default Programming Code (6 digits) and wait for the Schlage button to light three orange lights, followed by three beeps. Next, press the Schlage button.
2. Press key 3 on the keypad and wait for the Schlage button to light three orange lights, followed by three beeps.
3. Enter a new Programming Code (6 digits), then wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times, followed by three beeps.
4. Re-enter the new Programming Code to complete the operation. The Schlage button will illuminate green, followed by one long beep, indicating that the Programming Code has been successfully changed.

How to Delete the Default User Codes?

1. On the keypad, enter your current Programming Code and wait for the Schlage button to flash an orange light three times, followed by three beeps. Next, press the Schlage button.
2. Press key 6 on the keypad and wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times, followed by three beeps.
3. Enter your Programming Code. This will delete the two default 4-digit User Codes

To reprogram: 

1. Enter your current Programming Code, then wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times and the lock to beep three times. Next, press the Schlage button once.

3. Enter a new User Code (4 digits) and wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times, and the lock beeps three times.

1. On your lock’s interior assembly, remove the battery cover and then disconnect the battery.
2. Press and release the Schlage button on the keypad.
3. Now reconnect the battery and then press and hold the Schlage button until you see a green flash, followed by a single beep. Ensure you perform this last step within 10 seconds.
