Jul 27, 2006 Ok, it says it all in the title- can anyone help please? We have a 2004 Dodge Caravan SXT with electronic locks, alarmed and all. The manual is in the van, of course. Is there a number I can call, a website...... I just don't want to damage the van to get it open. I am a military wife and my husband is deployed, and we live in Belgium. No joke. I had a
military police working on it with a coat hanger, but he was scratching the paint, and I fear tearing the rubber seal, so I asked him to stop, I don't want my husband to come home to a mess. Please advise. : ( Joined

Jul 28, 2006 Problem solved! It was the old standby, the hanger, and a new idea I came up with! I used a wooden kitchen spatula, which starts out thin and widens as you push it through the door frame and seal. So it opened the door enough that I could slide the hanger in with ease. I am having a duplicate key made that justs opens the door. It won't start the car I am
told, just opens the door. That's ok with me as a back up, that's all I need. Thanks for the speedy response. I have another situation that happened today. I'll make a new thread. Thanks again, and please offer any advice, direction with the new problem. Joined Jan 6, 2004 · 897 Posts
I had the same problem several years ago. I went to pick up a new Sony TV and in my excitement, left the keys inside. A fellow customer standing at the counter offered to help. He had his vintage Rolls-Royce in the parking lot with a collection of vintage Rolls-Royce tools in the trunk. We used one of those tools to bend out the top of the window frame
out, and worked a wire to pull up on the lock. His car came from South Africa and was right hand drive. He said it was previously owned by some actor but I don't remember that detail. Richard.
Thanks in advance,

There is no easy way to do it.
You CAN open it with a coat hanger but you do risk damage to the seal and/or the paint if you are not carefull. Go in at the front of the glass and hit the door lock button with the bent hanger. SLOW AND CAREFUL.
Otherwise check with your dealer to see if they have the key code or have a
lock smith open it. They can make a key and do it without damaging the vehicle. It WILL be expensive but that is basicly the only other way to do it.

Use a flar pry bar inserted between the top of the door and the body, then insert a stiff metal rod in the created gap and try to activate the door lock. Best solution I have.
I do have a duplicate key without chip
