For many Spider-Man: No Way Home is the most anticipated film of 2021, something which isn't surprising, seeing as it is following up on the massive cliffhanger ending that Spider-Man: Far From Home let audiences on. Peter Parker has never had to deal with his secret identity going public in live-action, no less in a massive and largely interconnected universe.

Marvel didn't see it fit to simply only follow through with that plot point. They wanted to up the ante even more—which again, seems near impossible when it's his very identity and the people he loves at stake.

But once rumors started coming out that villains from previous films were set to take advantage of the multiverse, making their faces known to Tom Holland, excitement shot through the roof. And with the villains come their heroes, with whispers indicating that Tom Holland would share the screen with both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's respective Spider-Men. 

What was once gossip has now been confirmed, thanks to none other than JB Smoove, Parker's teacher, Mr. Dell.

MAGUIRE CONFIRMED

In an interview with The Illuminerdi, actor & comedian JB Smoove, who will return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, was asked about "which Spider-Man were you excited to see Tom Holland share the screen with, Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield?"

Smoove was quick to respond, saying "Tobey Maguire, of course, man."

The simple response all but confirms Tobey Maguire's return to live-action as Peter Parker.

TOBEY IS BACK IN THE SADDLE!

There is always the chance the actor misunderstood the question, instead of thinking it was hypothetical. Though with the pressure all the actors are under from Marvel to keep a tight mouth, it's hard to believe that he didn't know exactly what he was saying.

Recently, Sony and Marvel Studios have both likely been in a state of consistent panic, thanks to various leaks continuing to come out of the woodwork. The highly anticipated trailer got leaked early, on TikTok no less, as did some other images from the film not found in the early trailer. For a film that has held back so much from the world, it is odd to see it all slowly come crashing down. 

Even with all the information getting out, hopefully, fans will still be able to enjoy the film and its many surprises when it hits theaters on December 17 later this year. It's probably near impossible for any Spider-Man to not enjoy a film that is rumored to bring together so many elements from the character's live-action history—seeing Tobey Maguire on screen as Peter Parker once again will feel like nothing short of a dream.

The entire script could leak online, and the studios would still have a record-breaking box office success. 

This week it was confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch and Jamie Foxx would appear in Spider-Man 3. Now following a slew of rumours, reports are suggesting that past Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return to their roles for the first live-action Spider-Verse.

First reported by FandomWire, a close source has confirmed the actors will play Peter Parker alongside current neighbourhood hero, Tom Holland, though nothing has been officially announced from any management yet. Not much else is know about the film including its names, but further reports believe that it will be Doctor Strange who brings the three characters together to defeat a common enemy.

In addition, it is also believed that several past enemies will make a return including Kraven the Hunter, Scorpion, Electro and the Green Goblin. And with the entry of the Green Goblin, it could usher in a fresh introduction of Oscorp and Nick Fury’s galactic version of S.H.I.E.L.D., known as S.W.O.R.D.

At the helm is Sony, not Marvel, which is important to note meaning a fresh slew of franchise films could be on the way. Stay tuned for further developments.
