Logging in to Your Facebook Account Without a Password or Username

Step-by-step instructions to getting back into your Facebook profile:

  1. Go to the homepage.
  2. Under the login box, you will see a link that says, "Forgot Password?"
  3. Click this.
  4. A box will pop up. It will say, "Find your account."
  5. There are several methods for retrieving your Facebook login information—Facebook prompts you to enter either your email or your phone number. Your username also works and can be found on your profile URL, or you can enter your full name.

Are You Locked Out of Your Facebook Account?

So if you have forgotten your user ID and/or password, you can retrieve your login details here:

  1. Type either your email address or phone number into the search box. If you have multiple email accounts associated with your Facebook profile, you can use any of them to reconnect to your account.
  2. Click "Search."
  3. Your profile will pop up, giving you the option to send a code via email or SMS.
  4. Facebook will email or text you a six-digit account recovery code.
  5. If you choose to receive the code via email, you can either enter the code into your browser or select "Change Password" directly from the email. If you receive the code via text, you simply receive an SMS with a security code.
  6. Both options prompt you to reset your password after entering the code, but you can choose to skip this option and go directly to your account.
  7. To ensure your account's security, if you log in via this route, you will receive a confirmation email containing the date, time, IP address, and location where you logged into your account.

How to Recover Your Facebook Profile

It's possible to recover your profile from a friend or family member's account by following these steps:

  1. From a computer, log in to your friend or family member's Facebook account and go to your profile page.
  2. Click the three dots below the cover photo.
  3. Select "Find Support or Report Profile."
  4. Choose "Something Else," then "Next."
  5. Click "Recover This Account" and follow Facebook's directions to recover your account.

There are steps you can take to get back into your profile if Facebook disabled it or you've been hacked.

What if My Facebook Account was Disabled or Hacked?

If your account was disabled, it's likely you were in violation of Facebook's terms and conditions. You'll need to contact Facebook directly to request a review of your account.

If you were hacked, you'll need to change your password, update your security information, and report your profile to Facebook as compromised.

Don't Get Locked Out of Your Facebook Account

There are a few steps you can take to ensure you don't get locked out of your Facebook account again.

Write Down Your Password

Write down your login information (email address and password) somewhere so you don't lose it.

Enable Saving Your Login Information

Here's how to ensure Facebook saves your login information on select browsers so that you don't need to remember your password every time you log in:

  1. Go to your account settings, then click on "Security and Login."
  2. Under "Login," double-check to make sure "Save your login info" is turned on or enable it if it's not turned on. When this setting is enabled, you will be prompted to save your login information whenever you log in to a new browser.

The Creation of Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg was a 20-year-old Harvard University student in 2004 when he created and launched Facebook as TheFacebook.com.

It was initially only for Harvard students to connect with one another. But due to its rapid popularity, he extended this to other colleges in Boston and then to colleges throughout America.

In 2006, Facebook.com was launched and available to anyone in the world who was 13 years old and over and had a valid email address. Mark Zuckerberg became one of the youngest billionaires in the world. His estimated worth was over $100 billion in 2021.

Hello Kelly Ann, I am sorry you are having so many problems with hackers on your Facebook account. Glad the article helped

Kelly Ann Christensen from Overland Park, Johnson County, Kansas on December 29, 2019:

Cyberstalking thieves and hackers have hijacked our Facebook account repeatedly since 2012. We have currently not been able to log into it this time since April 2019, including my personal FB page in my legal name, Kelly Ann Christensen @kc3lady. This time they also changed the email address the account was registered to, as well as hijacking our email accounts. This is in addition to many other maneuvers, such as coming in in groups then hiding all posts, hacking off the like and share buttons, switching out photos, chasing down links, etc.

Thank you for this informative article.

Hello Patel you will have to use another password if you need to reset it. But if you want it to be near enough the same as your old one you can add the number 1 to the end of it. Or you can add the last letter twice. That way your new password will be very similar to the old one.

It is great that your Facebook login problem has been solved Insuranzelady. When you sign in you land on the main Facebook Wall.

In order to see any Pages you created you need to click on YOUR OWN Facebook profile page which is to the far top left. Then you will see an option to click on your pages on the top taskbar. Good luck

Insuranzelady on April 25, 2013:

For some reason, it opened yesterday, after trying and trying. The weird thing is, now my business FB page has vanished. Is that possible? the only reason I set up a personal FB page was so I could set up one for my agency and now it is gone. I think FB is more trouble than it is worth.

L M Reid (author) from Ireland on April 25, 2013:

Hello insuranzelady, If you do not have your email address do you know the phone number you gave? If not then when you get to the stage 'I can not identify my account' then type in your full name.

You will see a few Facebook accounts and one of them will be yours. Then you click on it and they give you the option of changing your password.

The instructions on how to do this are at the beginning of this article.

Good luck

Hello Rohit raj. I have copied part of your comment here because I did not want to allow your password and username on this open forum.

Your comment is:

My account is not opening because somebody has done problem. After opening it ask some information & when entered the relevant information then it is not open the page. Please help me otherwise close the account.

Thanks

The only thing I can suggest Rohit raj is that you enter your real name when Facebook asks you to. Then follow the instructions as outlined above. If you can still not open your account then your hacker may have blocked you. There is a help button on the Facebook sign up page. Email them and explain the situation, they may be able to help you regain your account back.

Good luck

If you have forgotten your password and user ID Etibanta sahoo then go to the place where it tells you to sign in. Below that there is a link which asks you this question. Click on this link and type in your email address you gave when you signed up. Facebook will send you the information. Good luck.

Vacinore There could be a number of reasons why you can not get into the Facebook games. It is more than likely just a temporary glitch and may be back to normal now. If not then there is a help button that should direct you to the answer on the Facebook home page. Good luck

L M Reid (author) from Ireland on June 22, 2012:

Hello I am sorry to hear that your Facebook account has been hacked. You should report the matter to Facebook and they will deal with it.

You say you can not access the hacked account so use your new one or open another one for this purpose.

Then go to the right of your account on top and you will see Home. Press the arrow on the right. This will show a drop down menu. Go to Help. Then go to Visit the help center. Click on Report abuse or policy violations. Then you will see other options. Click on Hacked accounts. Then click on Report abuse and policy violations.

Facebook will deal with the issue then. Good luck with this.

How do I close an old facebook account I no longer have access to? It was hacked and they changed the password and email and I can't get it gone.

L M Reid (author) from Ireland on April 02, 2012:

Hello Jo. To get back access to your Facebook Account go to the top right hand corner where it says Home. There is an arrow there with a drop down menu. Click this and find the Sign Out button.

When you sign out and then login again the fault should disappear.

If you are unable to access the Home button on your Facebook wall then close it down. Do an internet search by writing 'Facebook Login'. When you click this you can login from here. I hope this solves your problem. Let me know how you get on, good luck.

douglas ridey that sounds like a virus to me. Do a virus scan on your computer if you have this installed.

L M Reid (author) from Ireland on September 13, 2011:

Thanks Gregory and Corne for reading and your comments.

Corne: when you forget your password they usually ask you to supply your email that u gave them. I am not sure why they would ask for an alternative email address.

If this is what Facebook is still asking you then you could create another email account. I find Gmail the best, easiest and quickest. I have written an article about Gmail with the link to create your own.

I hope you can get it sorted soon, let me know how you get on

Corne on September 12, 2011:
