This zombie themed activity will strengthen your students’ skills in calculating midpoint and distance.

Students are given a graph with zombies on it and a corresponding worksheet. Students must carefully read the clues on the worksheet, find the coordinates of the correct zombies on the graph, and then calculate the midpoint or distance based on what the question is asking for. Nine midpoint/distance questions are included in this activity.

Sample clues include:

  • Your science teacher, Mr. Awesome, can do anything… including kill zombies! Looks like he was able to use his amazing Chemistry skills to develop a cure. If only he could have used the cure on himself before it was too late. Oh well… the cure is lying halfway between you and him. What are the coordinates of the cure?
  • While you are planning your escape you notice your girlfriend Abi moving towards you. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like she’s in the lovey-dovey mood… she’s more in the eat-your-brains mood. How many feet will Abi have to travel before she reaches you?
