Believe it or not, I’m one of those people that still saves wrapping paper. I think it drives some people crazy but what’s the point of wasting that beautiful wrapping?

In addition to saving money, it is also a little way to do my part to help the environment.

This year I’m taking it a step further with these reusable Christmas gift tags. No one ever keeps the tags on their gifts anyway and we use so many for the kiddos at Christmas.

Now we know we’ll always have plenty and we can use them year after year.

One of Our Family’s Favorite Christmas Movies

Today we’re sharing our awesome Christmas Movie ideas for the blog hop. My family loves the Nightmare Before Christmas. Actually, I should clarify that pretty much everyone except me loves it.

I also don’t know that I count it as a Christmas movie (I know that’s a hot-button opinion). However, I’m obsessed with my family and love an excuse to get crafty so these gift tags are the perfect project.

• Cricut Cutting Machine (I use the Maker)

• Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack is Back Paper

• Light Grip Cricut Mat (the blue one)

• Cricut Tools Set

• Laminator Machine

• Lamination Sleeves

• Scissors

• Hole Punch (I used my Crop-a-dile)

• Twine or Cording

Note:

If you don’t own the ornament design I used in this tutorial, you can get it with Cricut Access.

Step 1

First, choose the specific papers from the Nightmare Before Christmas paper set that you want to use. I chose the Zero pattern, the Jack Skellington pattern, and the Boogie’s Boys pattern.

Step 2

Next put one sheet of paper on your light grip mat and go over it with a brayer or your Cricut scraper tool to make sure it is firmly adhered. Then load it into your cutting machine.

Step 3

After your mat is loaded, pull up Cricut Design Space and click on “New Project” in the top right hand corner of the screen.

Step 4

Then click on images and type “ornament” into the search bar. Scroll down until you find the orange ornament cut file pictured above.

Step 5

Click on the ornament and hit the “insert images” button. Once your ornament is on your canvas, resize it so that it is 2.791” x 3.25”.

Step 6

After your ornament is the correct size, click the “Make It” button. On the next screen, type 8 in the project copies box and hit “Apply”. Then continue to the cut screen and cut your design.

Step 7

Next, remove your cutting mat from your machine and remove the excess paper from the mat.

Step 8

Then pull your ornaments off of the mat and set them to the side.

Step 9

Repeat steps 2 though 8 for your remaining sheets of paper.

Step 10

After all of your tags are cut, warm up your laminator and place 6 ornaments into one of your lamination sheets. Make sure that you leave space to cut around the ornaments when arranging them in the sheet.

Step 11

Next, run your lamination sheet through your laminator and set it aside to cool.

Step 12

Continue laminating your tags until all of them are finished.

Step 13

After all of your tags are laminated, cut them out of the sheets with your scissors. Be sure to leave a laminate edge around them.

Step 14

Then punch out the hole in the tags. I used the small hole punch on my Crop-a-dile.

Step 15

Next cut a small piece of cord and thread it through the hole of a tag. Then knot the loose ends together and trim the excess. Continue until all of your tags have cords on them.

How to Use Your Reusable Nightmare Before Christmas Gift Tags

When you’re ready to use your tags, use a wet erase marker or liquid chalk marker to write the to and the from labels.

Warning: the liquid chalk can rub off more easily than the wet erase marker. I wouldn’t use that on the tags that you are traveling with.

When you’re done with the tags, use a damp cloth to wipe off the writing. Allow them to dry and then toss them in your wrapping paper organizer for next year.

These Nightmare Before Christmas gift tags are the perfect reusable option for Jack Skellington fans like my family. No more last minute runs to the store for those little stickers that get immediately thrown away after opening.
