Paulas choice intensive wrinkle repair retinol serum

How is Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum different from other Paula's Choice Antioxidant Serums?

The most notable difference is that Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum contains a higher amount of Retinol than our Skin Recovery or Skin Balancing Serum with Retinol. The Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Vitamin C does not contain Retinol and is an excellent serum to alternate with Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum. These two serums are for all skin types, while Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is designed for dry/very dry skin and Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is best for combination/oily skin.

All Paula's Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate serums have a velvety texture with a high concentration of proven ingredients such as antioxidants, repairing ingredients and intercellular communicators to restore the skin's protective barrier, significantly reduce wrinkles, firm, increase collagen and elastin synthesis and help fade hyper-pigmentation spots.

Which Paula's Choice serum is right for me?

All skin types can use any of our serums and each provides multiple anti-ageing benefits, but there are some differences between their formulas that make them specific to different skin types. They are distinguished in:

-Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Vitamin C and Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum with Retinol can be used on all skin types, including sensitive skin. The Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum contains the highest percentage of Retinol, after our new Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment.
-Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Retinol is best suited for normal to very dry skin as it contains various nourishing botanical oils.
-Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate Seurm with Retinol is best suited for normal, combination to oily skin or skin prone to breakouts as it has a much lighter texture and a matte finish.
-Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Vitamin C is one of two Paula's Choice serums that does not contain Retinol. It is ideal for anyone who cannot tolerate Retinol.
-Resist Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Hyaluronic Acid has the lightest texture of all the serums on Resist and is the only one with a more watery texture. It does not contain Retinol, so it is recommended for people whose skin cannot tolerate this ingredient (it can also be combined with one of our Retinol serums).

IsResist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum better than other Paula's Choice serums?

It's not better, it's just different. Think of it like broccoli and carrots: both are good for you, but provide different nutritional benefits that your body needs to stay healthy.

Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum is formulated with a higher percentage of Retinol to provide greater wrinkle repair and firmness-but all Paulas Choice serums contain a cocktail of ingredients tested to help repair wrinkles and other signs of ageing.

Can I use two Paula's Choice products with Retinol at the same time, such as Resist Barrier Repair with Retinol and Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum?

Yes, you can perfectly well use both. Only if you notice tightness in the skin, thanks to the cell renewal generated by the Retinol, we recommend you use one product in the morning under a sun protection factor and the other at night, or consider using Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Vitamin C which does not contain Retinol and any of the Paula's Choice products with Retinol at night.

Can I use Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum with prescription retinoid products (e.g. Renova, Retin-A)?

Yes, but generally speaking, it is not necessary to use a retinol and a prescription retinoid. One option is to apply the retinol product in the morning and the prescription retinoid in the evening, always making sure to protect the skin with SPF 15 or higher.

Keep in mind that the use of several retinoid products increases the risk of over-exfoliation, you may notice tightness in the skin and this is not what we want to achieve.

Can I use Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum with a Benzoyl Peroxide product?

Yes. For best results, apply the benzoyl peroxide product to the areas of acne breakouts and once the product has absorbed, follow with Resist Intensive Wrinkle - Repair Retinol Serum.

Please note that benzoyl peroxide should not be applied at the same time as tretinoin or prescription retinoid, as it makes this active ingredient less effective. However, there is no problem with retinol.

What is the retinol percentage of Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum?

Our Super Concentrate Night Serum combines 0.1% retinol along with vitamins C and E, plus anti-irritants. Consider alternating with our retinol-free RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Vitamin C in your daily routine!

Moderate levels of retinol (0.04% to 0.1%) often work more effectively, so you'll see results more quickly than with lower percentages. It's no surprise that these percentages of retinol work best when combined with other skin-friendly ingredients, as mentioned above.

Research published in Pharmacology and Skin Physiology shows that retinol concentrations of 0.04% or higher improve the visible signs of photo-ageing (sun damage), stimulate collagen production and improve resistance to skin thinning.

A 2009 study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology indicates that over 8 weeks, 0.1% retinol proved to be an impressive treatment for the improvement of fine lines ("crow's feet"), wrinkles, blemishes and lack of skin firmness.

Can I apply 2 Paula's Choice serums at the same time and can I do this?

Yes you can and it doesn't matter which serum you apply first. Experiment to see which order of serum application works best for you. Although there is no problem using two serums at the same time, it is not necessary, as each Paula's Choice serum contains a cocktail of active ingredients that are brilliant for the skin. Applying two serums and moisturiser before makeup can feel a little heavy on the skin, so if you want to apply two serums, it's best to apply them in the evenings.

Why is Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum better than other Retinol treatments?

Our Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum has several advantages over other Retinol serums:

In addition to its unique retinol formula, this serum also treats the skin with antioxidant, repairing and anti-irritant ingredients. Each of these ingredients have dermatologically tested and published reviews showing how they improve skin ageing.

The amount of retinol in this serum was expertly calibrated to ensure maximum efficacy without irritation. You will receive all the benefits of retinol without side effects such as tightness, flaking or redness.

The chemist Paula Begoun chose to formulate this serum is a retinol expert, who ensured that each element of this treatment improves wrinkles and signs of ageing without irritation.

This retinol serum is packaged to ensure the efficacy and stability of the formula. The retinol is handled carefully at all times of manufacture and is never exposed to light or oxygen which can degrade it. Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum requires specially designed packaging to keep the retinol stable (open pipette, tube or jar packaging compromises the efficacy of the retinol). This means that the serum you are purchasing offers maximum retinol potency.

You can trust that Paula Begoun and her team are always developing products to provide the most advanced formulas at reasonable prices!

At what point after having a medical laser treatment and/or medical peel procedure can I use my serum again?

First of all, we recommend that after the procedure you follow the instructions of your doctor or nurse. If they have not mentioned anything about when to resume the use of your serum, please contact the doctor who performed the treatment.

Otherwise, our general advice is that you should start using your serum again as soon as possible. All our serums contain repairing and anti-inflammatory ingredients that soothe reddened skin and help to improve the healing process of the skin. Be sure to use sunscreen SPF 15 or higher daily after each medical treatment.

Can I use Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum on skin with Rosacea?

Yes, dermatological research has shown that retinol can reduce the inflammation that leads to rosacea symptoms. Its other antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents in this serum will help calm redness and soothe the skin while providing anti-ageing benefits.

I keep pressing the diffuser, but the product does not come out.

This product is packaged in an airless pressure pump dispenser that uses a vacuum system to dispense the product and keep the contents in perfect condition. The vacuum packaging helps to keep the air on the outside and not contaminate the product, increasing and improving the stability and efficacy of the formula.

When using your product for the first time, you may need to press the dispenser slowly about 10-15 times and/or tap the base of the product with your hand. If the diffuser stops working at any time, simply follow the steps above. Do not attempt to disassemble the product.
