The two entrepreneurs behind the dip, Steven Markley and James Arcaro, make it with smoked Kingfish that they catch on their boat in the Atlantic Ocean. Instead of adding mayonnaise or cream cheese, they mix it with Greek yogurt. The two fishermen (and native wildland firefighters) pitched Reely Hooked Fish Co. on Shark Tank in November 2017. They went into the Tank seeking an investment of $75,000 in exchange for 25 percent equity. And that’s exactly what they got from billionaire Mark Cuban. Using a secret recipe that was perfected by family members over the course of many years, the two Florida Wildland firefighters took their product to a hungry market. All of the Reely Hooked fish is wild caught from sustainable fisheries in Florida waters. The fish is mixed with natural ingredients that are hand-selected from local farmers’ markets. After the fish is caught it’s placed on ice and sent to their factory to be professionally filleted and cleaned. It’s soaked in their signature brine, then smoked for a long period of time using local woods.
