The much awaited book in crossfire series I was so eagerly waiting for. Finally! Though Gideon and Eva story has ended well the story looked incomplete. What happened with other characters who played a major role in Gideva lives was not given a proper closure. The readers will love to read this book since the previous 4 books were a delight to read but the disappointment factor will prevails because the story looks incomplete. In the sense all the characters could have been justified to a definite closure. After the story ends when all is well.

Definitely didn't hold up. The wait seemed like just a waste. Couldn't she have wrapped this up in the last one? I guess greed always trumps quality. Good for you, Sylvia. You're a better business woman than an author

2.0 out of 5 stars *Sighs* Grave Disappointment *Spoilers* Very Long Review!

I write this review with a heavy and unsatisfied heart. Mz Day, I've been a fan of yours since before you even started the Crossfire series, but from the first page in Bared to you, it quickly developed into my favorite series of yours yet and the top story ever for me! Gideon is by far the best book boyfriend ever imaginable!
I honestly don't know what went wrong with the book but something obviously did. I find my self not at a satisfied conclusion of one of the best stories ever, but with more questions than answers.
For instance, did the baby belong to Cary after all? Or are we to infer that it did and he transformed into a good father/parent. I would have loved to have seen how he managed fatherhood if that was the case. Also how did the relationship with Tatiana pan out, I can't envision her making it easy for him to be a good father, in fact I sort of envisaged her dumping the baby on him if it was his and doing a runner once she realized she could no longer use the baby to control him. What about Cary and Trey's relationship? Loose ends everywhere......
About Gideon's mother, are we to infer that their relationship never mended or improved after the words were exchanged in his office? What about Corinne and the book? Was it published or was the appearance Gideon did supposed to squash the point of it? We're the Lucas's ever bought to justice? What was on that mofo usb stick??????!!!
How on earth did Stanton cope?

I don't know if it's just me, but from what was read I also gathered the notion that there was the possibility that Gideon's brother Christopher Vidal Jr had also been abused as a child and that this was linked to his hatred towards Gideon, as he is unaware of the abuse Gideon suffered. We only see that he started some form of minimal contact with Gideon near the end. Are we to infer that they became good friends. I am one who agrees to confirmation rather than telling by omission.
What about Gideon and his nightmares? Are we to imply that he got better the more he opened up to the therapist and they eventually went away? Or are we to infer that they stayed at bay only with the therapists help?
To be quite honest I did enjoy the book, but not as much as the first three. I feel as if the fourth was ok, but added little substance to the series. On top of the fact the story was changed into a five book series due to the book's success, you'd think the author would have more substance as to it requiring more books, but that does not seem to be the case, it seems to be a way of keeping fans on the hook to spend their money and grant them disappointment. The point of this fifth book seems to be what I considered the far fetched mystery of Eva's mother. I'm still a tad confused about that and I can see you wanted to add a wow factor to the book but I was left quite devastated and not in a good way when that incident happened. I honestly believe you got rid of the wrong character, I feel like there was room for her and Eva to still grow and that there was no need for her absence in order for Eva to find out about another relative.
I was hoping against hope that there would be a detailed happy ending, I hoped this would include whether or not Gideon and Eva had children (imagine Gideon as a father though? Lol) and if so how would Gideon cope if they did have kids? Would fatherhood instincts kick in and he now have more love for the child/children they created than Eva? Or would he or could he love them equally?
I had a lot of expectations for this book which I had the right to, with the almost 2 year waiting period.... and I am not happy at all with the outcome.
I mean fine if you've left questions but there's been no announcement as to whether we will be getting answers, if we are to imply all the things stated above then it's best I just wrote my own ending to the story as there was not much point to this book.
I hate to be so critical and negative, but the unjust ending impacted me. This is my favorite series ever and it ended like that! What on earth were you thinking?

Also there's been no update as to the tv show that the books are supposed to be turned into. Even if you said all answers would be addressed in the tv series then that would have been at least some form of assurance and excitement of what's to come than to just dump this.......in our laps. I understand you have other books and projects in the works but I'm a true fan...or was! I would've waited another two years if I had to in order to get a good ending, not perfect but decent at least.....

I for one won't be reading another book of yours....fool me once and all that.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bereft and confused

Here we go. After waiting a looong time for this book, it was a HUGE disappointment. We have been left wih more questions than answers. Like Gideon and his mother haven't resolved their issues, Corinne, his brother and even Cary. The whole book was full of nothing and towards the end the whole story with Monica was absolute garbage and just confusing. I'm sure they'll be another announcement made where Sylvia Day will milk more money out of the Crossfire series because her so called fans aren't satisfied with this ending which is what she's aiming for. Confuse us, leave situations unresolved and questions unanswered so we beg for more. I don't give a flying F£@&£ if she writes more I'm done with this and her. Thanks for Ruining what could have been a great and epic love story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Crossfire #5

This is the last book in the Crossfire series. Being the fifth book I was intrigued by what was left of Eva and Gideon. They are such addictive characters.
The book is split between chapters written in Eva's point of view and Gideon's. Personally, I preferred Gideon's point of view as he is a much more interesting character and I liked reading it like this in this book and the fourth one (captivated by you). I found myself hurrying through Eva's parts just to get to Gideon's. I felt the book should've been written solely in Gideon's point of view because we have had three books of just Eva.

Furthermore, there isn't a real "hook" in this book. Trying to describe it is essentially two people trying to work out their love life. There are a few twists and turns, some interesting and some really weren't needed -SPOILER: I did not see the point in killing off one of the characters. It looked like a desperate plea at the end to provide something to move the plot along. And after all of this, we still didn't get the big white wedding. Instead, it jumped to the honeymoon. I felt that the big white wedding was the purpose of the book as it was what they mostly talked about, but we didn't get it. I found that disappointing.

I will always enjoy Eva and Gideon. There are many hot sex scenes as standard with these two which i feel is the main pull of the books. Even though there is drama in the novels, there isn't much to write a blurb about. Maybe something about the ex-girlfriends who are involved but essentially if you read the back of the book to get a feel for it, you can't get anything from that either. You can't report any major scene as it all just flows through to another dramatic scene.

Got get me wrong, I love a bad boy billionaire. There is clearly interpretation from 50 Shades in this series. I believe the writers are even friends. That doesn't discourage me from the books at all but this wasn't an overpoweringly dramatic finale to a series that I really love. The ending, whilst chaotic was so much more interesting written from Gideon. The panic he felt, watching his emotions run riot. So interesting. By the 4th book, i believe Eva lost her ability to tell the story and Gideon (as he would!) took over.

This really isn't a "wrap up book". It closes the series without much of an ending. So they live happily ever after. We don't get the wedding. Someone dies who shouldn't have, Cary may or may not be the father of a baby. There are quite a few loose ends. I think if the characters were to have a child as a reason not to have the wedding would've been better than a death. It would've grown them as a couple.

Nevertheless, if you love the rest of the series, naturally you will love this too. It's a shame the ending isn't quite as impactful as the rest of it. The third book is definitely the best one. But I did really enjoy the book. Full of secrets and lots of Gideon. I would recommend it to a friend, but I know that as I read through the series there won't be so much to look forward too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A neat ending to a turbulent series

One With You gives us a neat ending to a turbulent series. I will admit that unlike the first three books, it took me a while to get into the story. The first half of the book is very much like the fourth - more of a filler than actual story. However, the second half is a powerful read, dramatic and sensuous. I got a bit lost to begin with, wondering where this sudden storyline for Monica had come from, but as it all comes together, we see real insights into Gideon and Eva's lives. I didn't feel there was as much character progression with Gideon and Eva as I would have liked - they haven't really grown since the third book, but considering the short amount of time that the series is set over, this is probably fairly realistic.

The final few chapters left me shocked, and without giving anything away, there were tears and tissues were required. I still haven't quite come to terms with everything that happened! This book was needed to say good-bye to the characters, in more ways than one, and I would definitely recommend the series to anyone who likes to get invested in a fictional relationship!

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant series finale

It’s taken me a while to realise that I hadn’t read the series finale so after re reading the series I’ve finally read the whole series. This last book has so much going on and some things are finally clarified however I thought the ending although good could have lead the way to giving us more of how Gideon and Eva finally reached their happy place and what was ahead for them. There is no doubt that this series has some of the most graphic steamy scenes but honestly as a couple it works for them. Lots of angst, lots of twists and a serious tragedy but overall a good end to the Crossfire Series.
