4.0 out of 5 stars Almost as good as high end

So to start off, when I unboxed this guitar noticed there was a big chip taken out of the body, package boxing wasn’t damaged just the guitar inside which was wrapped in a plastic covering. So thinking that it was damaged in transit looked for the piece, but there wasn’t any. Thinking now it was shipped that way, so that’s where the 3 stars comes in for value.I checked over the rest of the guitar and everything else looked good, no sprouting frets set up was alright but I did adjust the neck and that helped a lot. So the reason I’m not sending this guitar back is it’s just a cheap model and when they send me another model there could be other issues so decided to keep it. It does sound really good, fingers really good, and I still would recommend checking out the squire bullet. I don’t plan on changing any hardware on this model, pickup are not bad tuner are ok and nut alright a good amp and you will have a good guitar.

I’ve been playing for about 40 years. I also modify guitars and do a little building.

I bought a “Bullet” Telecaster so that I could modify it into a theme guitar. I wanted to donate it for an auction to my college, and I’m going to have a band sign it. In short, this guitar will be hung on somebody’s wall, so playability and functionality weren’t really important.

Nevertheless, I decided to set it up and see how it plays. The answer is all the components are actually there to get it to ply well, but you either need to know what you’re doing or take it to somebody who does.

The truss Rod was 100% “loose” when I got it. That’s not a defect. It may have been loosened for shipping, just like the strings. That’s always step 1 in a setup - get the neck bow right.

That helped a bit on the string height, which was way too high prior to the neck adjustment, but was still too high after. So I lowered the strings some. Intonation was close except on the low E, which I never could get perfect. I honestly think this bridge was set a bit too close to the neck, because math dictates that I should be able to get the low E to intonate, but I ran out of adjustment on the saddle. But it’s really close.

One of the saddle posts was cutting my hand, so I filed that down some. Same thing with the corners of the nut. But the fret ends we’re actually fine, so I didn’t have to mess with that.

Bottom line is, after spending about an hour doing what would be done at the factory of a higher priced instrument, it’s a solid little player!

The pickups not great, but they’re not terrible either. If I was going to keep it and play it, I’d personally trade them out, but for an average newbie, they’re perfectly ok.

The picture shows this to be a string thru body - it isn’t.

Also, if anybody is thinking about this as a platform guitar for the body, just know that the body dimensions are definitely different than a standard Tele body. The body is thinner for sure, so some control plates may not fit. Not sure.

ANYWAY, I love music, and I believe if you’re going to get a kid an instrument, you should get the best you can afford, because if it’s hard to play and won’t stay in tune, the kid will stop playing it. I believe this instrument is fine IF YOU CAN SET IT UP. (Google “guitar setup” if you don’t know what that is). All my kids are adults and they all play, but I’d have no problem giving one of these (set up) Bullets to a grandkid someday!

Well it plays. Stock pickups have an unexciting tone. Body was in great shape and had a nice finish. the neck is definitely cheap, the frets are unfinished and gritty (expected for the price range), the tuners wobble around quite a bit. And of course the strings are cheap (also to be expected). It’s pretty heavy as well but it’s a telecaster! All in all its not bad, a few upgrades and I think it would work for anybody.

I have bought and done various things to a dozen of squire bullets but namely Strats they typically are the best value you can achieve on a budget. Long gone are those days with Amazon being at fault as well. I bought a like new tele and it was appalling. The fret ends were the worst I have seen on even a no name guitar and I normally do my own filing and rounding the edges anyways but this was beyond the scope of insane. Maybe the person who returned it did a swap out because first of all the through hole mounts were absent. The body had a huge quarter sized puncture on the edge of the guitar where your arm rests. Now amazon wants this to be returned and then they will give you your money back. This is because the guitar I bought prior to this had issues that were ludacris as well. This led to a exchange. So I guess if they send you junk and you want it fixed you get one get outta jail before they make you wait weeks on end before they make it right. All this despite your vigilant homework making sure that what your purchasing is the actual item described. Fender or it's subsidiary squire has fallen outta the realm of respectable given the quality I received with the like new telecaster I ponied up for and literally got beaten or should I say got the beaten up not as described item they force me to stick with and remedy myself. It's becoming the status quo now with Amazon to not get anything of value from the warehouse as orders have been completely wrong don't come on time and are over promised and under delivered as the norm. So much for the world's most customer service based company giving to picks about the cat poop they make you belly up to. I feel like Will Ferrel from Anchorman. You used to be able to snag a great but from Amazon from the warehouse now it's buyer beware because they obviously don't care as this is at least the 7th issue of this caliber that falls on completely understanding and hard to understand ears when there's even the laughing attempt to try to remedy through customer no support. Sounds as though I might be bitter well I am certainly better off not being fooled again. This review is to shed some light on the 100% honest account of my true experience with Amazon and buying guitars that have for the last half dozen been a trainwreck. Other brands included in this review. Hopefully this stops someone from having to go through the same disgraceful experience Amazon seems so ripe to bring to fruituon.

For the money this guitar is excellent, and I would certainly recommend it to beginners and more experienced players. I know some people have reported minor issues on receipt but mine had no issues. I've been playing for over 40 years and wish something of this quality and value for money was available in my youth. I remember my first guitar as being practically unplayable, and certainly painful, to learn on. However, I would like to bring to attention a couple of issues relating to what is in the advert and what I received. The advertised guitar clearly shows the 'skunk stripe' down the back of the neck, which was not present on my guitar. This is just aesthetics, but something I would have preferred to have. Also, and more importantly, the advertised guitar clearly shows the string through body feature which, again, mine did not have. This means this guitar is far less resonant than a string through type would be. Although I am disappointed with these issues I chose not to return the guitar as it is still excellent value. Perhaps something for Squire to address, as I think it is pot luck what the music store receives from them. Some will have the skunk stripe and string through features and some won't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap no longer means rubbish

If only some people would stop their snobbery and try this brand, they would find out that the "lower quality instruments" of yesterday are long gone. I recall back in the day when you had to buy a name brand to ensure you could play the thing at all, but these days, with so much of the production being mechanised (even in the name factories) there is little to go wrong. The lower cost reflects the finishing work (frets, intonation etc) which are all labour-intensive so often missed off, but with the cheaper labour costs outside Europe and US, these things are now regularly being included and a well finished instrument results. Even the woods being used are very similar - don't forget the original Teles were made of pine! Unless you intend to record or play live, the sound is usually good and the difference between these and the top-price items can often only be heard by dogs. Put your preconceptions aside and try them, you'll be impressed.

My son plays electric guitars. He has a few and this Telecaster was his wish for his 15th birthday. He likes it a lot, the way it sounds and the way it looks. I personally enjoy listening to him on each guitar.

5.0 out of 5 stars How did they do this for the money?

A quick tweek of the truss rod, a set of No10 slinkies and this guitar could easily be gigged. I bought this so that my Fender American Pro didn't get bashed and chipped in the house whilst practicing. That guitar is 10x the price but twice as good. A great guitar for practicing or beginners because it is a proper instrument at a fantastic price. I can't recommend it highly enough.

This guitar is great, I have a few guitars I have bought from modest price ranges, but I must say that this squire telecaster has the sound of a much more expensive guitars.

I can't imagine anything better for the money, get one and give it a go...

Are Squier bullets good guitars?

For what it's worth, the Fender Squier Bullet Stratocaster is definitely a great choice. The playability on this guitar is nice. The rosewood frets feel nice and it's easy to glide along the maple neck. The single-coil pickups are decent and fun.

Is the Squier Bullet series good?

With great values in design, sound, and body, you can go wrong with the Squier Bullet Stratocaster if you're looking for an entry-level guitar. In fact, I consider this as the quintessential guitar for beginners.

Is a Squire Telecaster any good?

Overall, I give the Squier Vintage Affinity Telecaster a rating of 4 out of 5. This guitar isn't going to change your life, and you will probably want to make some mods on it before taking it on stage at a bigger room, but as a backup or a beginner guitar, the Squier Classic Vibe it's more than satisfactory.

Which Telecaster is better bullet or affinity?

The main differences between Squier Affinity vs Bullet are: Squier Affinity guitars tend to be more durable, whereas Bullet guitars can be a bit less durable. Squier Affinity guitars tend to be more expensive, whereas Squier Bullet guitars tend to be cheaper in general.
