Things to do in south beach miami for adults

Let me show you the best 11 things to do in Miami for Adults which  will not permit you to have enough time to do anything tacky. 

Miami is the spring breaker destination for Americans but a long haul and exhausting trip for Asians (I mean there is still no direct flight from Asia to Miami). 

When my cousin arrived in Miami from Korea, she was excited but also exhausted, so I had to pump her adrenaline and show why Miami is the next best travel destination. 

So the first place I took her was Ocean Drive.

Ocean Drive

Ocean Drive is the most famous strip on South Beach. 

To be honest, as a local I don’t come here often.

But then I still come to Ocean Drive for random reasons. It is like I always said I never go to Times Square to my friends, but always end up going to Times Square for either some shows or bars. 

One of the reason I kept going was to take Salsa lessons at Salsa Mia. The class was inside a famous Mango tropical Cafe. 

I never thought of going in cause it looked tacky but always ended up staying for hours. It is shows what Miami in on punch. The shows, the drinks, the hustle and the dances. 

Then I took my cousin to the drag bar Palace, Versace House and Wet Willies where we blacked out lol. 

I could go on and on about where to go in Ocean Drive, but I will make a separate post on places to go on Ocean Drive.

Boat Party or Romantic Private Yacht

You can go to a great hotel party or strip clubs in Miami, but boat parties are another cool thing to do. 

You get to go on a catamaran and go to a deserted island and party. 

It was so much fun and another day of day drinking and blacking out lol (Miami is NOT all about drinking and I’ll show you why soon). 

I used a company called South Beach Party Boats, but I am sure you can find more. 

It was the most memorable activity and it definitely is one of the best things to do in Miami for adults

If you want to do something more private and romantic you can rent a yacht (of course driver is included) for a sunset or at night. 

This seems to be popular among couples, so I am leaving it here (maybe one day for me as well? lol)

Everglades

This is something very unique that you can probably only do it in New Orleans and Florida. 

Everglades is basically a swamp with tall grasses and waterways. It is also known for alligators’ home. 

So going to Everglades is a must do in Miami where you will literally see wild alligators everywhere. 

I went to Everglades National Park. It is the cheapest way to do it, but you will need a car to get here. If you want to drive, here is the address. 

On the way to the park, you will see many Airboat tour.

I think the best is to book and go for no waiting time and cheaper price, but you can easily buy it at the Airboat place. 

This is the company I used and the reviews are also the highest.

The problem with the day tour is that alligators don’t move much during the day because they are lazy (I’m kidding, but because they are sleeping). 

The best time to go see the alligators are at night. I haven’t tried it but this company runs a night tour on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

If you don’t have a car the best is to go on a tour. They will pick you up from the hotel and do all that airboats.

Neptune’s Memorial Park 

Neptune’s Memorial park is the biggest underwater park in America. It is so big that there is actually a grave yard (Yes, for real people). 

The only thing is that you have to know how to dive. You cannot reach by foot or car but only by boat. 

You can learn for three days and go down. There are few companies that offer the tour, and I used Tarpoon dive center. 

I know the picture might not be impressive, but if you see it in person you will say wow.

Wynwood

Wynwood is THE hottest town right now among locals and tourists. It is like the Soho of London or the Hell’s Kitchen of New York. 

Everybody goes there for food and parties.

What makes Wynwood even more unique thatn London Soho or Hell’s Kitchen is that the graffitis are everywhere. 

There are so many things you can eat in Wynwood, so if you are planning to go I wrote a separate blog post in detail.

Design District

This is like the L.A. Rodeo Drive. All the high end luxury brands. It is not well know like the Rodeo, but it is definitely a good place to go if you are an “influencer” type (Full of instagram hot spots). 

This is the most popular things to Do in Miami for adults who like to shop.

Perez Museum and Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science 

Perez Museum is a modern contemporary museum. I am not really into arts, but the whole area is very interesting. 

You are on the other side of the South Beach

The musuem is free and there are lots to look at and just stroll on a hot day in Miami. 

But the best part is the Museum of Science. It is a brand new museum so it is well built unlike the sea aquarium (will talk about it later). 

It also has a full 3D theater where Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking) does a voice over. Even as an adult I really enjoyed it. 

Hoie Island Beach

One of the thing I love about Miami is that there are so many different beaches you can go. 

Of course South Beach is the most famous, but Hoie island beach is where the locals go. It is calm, quiet and most of all beautiful.

You can also go to Whiskey Joe’s or Rusty Pelican across from the beach.

I think it is one of the cutest restaurant in Miami overlooking the canal and the boats leaving the dock.

Art Basel

If we think about Miami, younger generation will think about Ultra festival. 

But Art Basel is as famous. It is where all the rich and famous (recently Leo, Will Smith and J.LO) and New Yorkers come down to party and buy expensive arts. 

It happens every year around end of November to early December.

There are not only 100s of galleries and conventions to buy art, but also a lot of fun parties happening. 

The only downside is that booking a hotel will be almost impossible or way too expensive. 

Sea Aquarium 

I wasn’t going to introduce this outdated Sea Aquarium. This might not be the most popular things to do in Miami for adults, but hear me out. 

When I went to the aquarium in Dubai, it blew my mind how beautiful it was. 

And I don’t know what I expected at the Sea Aquarium. It took me back to the 80s. 

There is really nothing to but to feel nostalgic. So my cousin and I bought and oldstyle disposable camera and did some shooting. 

The aquarium was boring, but it was a good fun capturing the 80s world.
