Internal Medicine Residency Program

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wellington Regional Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is affiliated with Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Wellington Regional Medical Center provides a comprehensive postgraduate medical education curriculum. Every resident participates in patient care — from admission to discharge — a feature specifically built into this intensive program.

The program is designed to help residents develop confidence in clinical judgment. Over time, and with supervision from an attending physician, residents receive increasing responsibility commensurate with their merit and ability.

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an excellent physician for a clinic on the campus of a critical-access hospital in beautiful Walton, New York.

The ideal candidate would be a Family Practice physician that is willing to see outpatients in the office while rotating every other week to see patients in the hospital. Would also consider straight outpatient or Internal Medicine trained.

DVH is critical access with around 17 -20 beds. Many of these are "swing" beds which is the equivalent of subacute nursing patients. We have on average about 3 acute patients.

Ideal schedule would be:

Week 1: 40 hours of office patients.

Week 2: M-F 4 hours hospital in am. 4 hours office in PM.

Week 3: 40 hours of office patients.

Week 4: M-F 4 hours hospital in am. 4 hours office in PM.

* We could vary it slightly if candidate wanted to work hospital through one weekend.

This traditional inpatient/outpatient practice is set in a friendly town where your patients are your neighbors. A strong sense of community is fostered and treasured. The practice is adjacent to the hospital — a 15-bed medical floor and rehab beds, a 24/7 Emergency Department and a 10 bed Addiction Treatment program. UHS is a community-owned, not-for-profit organization operating 500 beds: Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center (the area’s Level II Trauma Center), Binghamton General Hospital, Chenango Memorial Hospital, Delaware Valley Hospital, Professional Home Care and Ideal Senior Living Center. Teaching opportunities are available with the UHS Family Practice and Internal Medicine residents, Endocrinology, Geriatrics and Sports Medicine fellows, transitional year students, as well as 3rd and 4th year medical students on rotation from Upstate Medical University.
