Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 16, 2013 This book is well worth reading. Admittedly, much of the advice on healthy eating it offers is not new – some of it I had heard many times before. However, in my case, it was only after reading this book that I really began to put the advice in practice, and not in a half-hearted or grudging way, but with a genuine sense of purpose and enthusiasm. It has really helped me to broaden my diet, and to eat a much healthier diet, without feeling in the least bit deprived or aggrieved about it, and I’ve lost weight and gained a sense of well-being in the process. The value of Kirk’s book for me was how well she explained nutritional processes, in enough detail that a layperson can grasp them, but without crossing the line into overly-technical bamboozlement territory. We’re always being told not to crash diet, not to eat too much sugar, to eat more fruit/vegetables/oily fish, etc, but I’ve found that fully understanding the implications of these actions for your body can make a significant difference to how well you heed the advice.
