Mei Xi is a world class assassin (no surprise there), adept at poison and medicine. She’s extremely lazy when she’s got free time, and she’s the biggest flirt ever. A total player. Her goal is to bed all the beauties she can find.

She somehow transmigrates into a rich miss, Feng Zhiyao, who’s just had her engagement broken with the seventh prince, whom she was crazy in love with. So she went insane with grief and hanged herself. Then Mei Xi wakes up in her body in the coffin…

Everyone expects her to be grieving over her lost love, but instead she changes into a seductive demoness who manages to win over many hearts (some of whom belong to the seventh prince’s posse). Simply put, she turns into a femme fatale.

Thoughts: Well, it’s entertaining. The MC is a total Mary Sue (who can fall asleep at any time in the day, saving the author the effort to think through some scenes \sarcasm), and everyone falls for her. I think her harem includes 10 guys? Maybe 11 by the end. The plot kinda jumps around and there are some cliche meetings: she just happens to stumble upon an injured beauty in the mountains, a masked ‘assassin’ just happens to run through her room to hide, etc.

The MC is the type to seduce whoever catches her eye, and doesn’t wish to take responsibility afterwards. She’s just looking for one night stands or at best – friends with benefits. She has no thoughts of marriage at all. But she’s interested in making money and making herself independent. I can accept that, you know. I’m totally fine with that. We got shameless pervert male MC’s, why not the female equivalent?

But there were some parts in the story that I was really unhappy with. For example, she drugs ( with some aphrodisiac) her first man to make him take advantage of her. Reason being that in this historical setting, everyone’s too upright, especially the pure men she settles her eyes on. I understand that some women think a man doesn’t lose anything by having sex, but this thinking is wrong, okay? Everyone deserves the chance to choose, and the MC took it from the guy. And of course, for the plot’s sake, he already liked her and wasn’t too averse to the proceedings afterwards, but it was a despicable move from her side. The novel kinda lost me right there… Now, if you don’t read it with as serious a mindset as me, and just take it for mindless smut, then it’s fine. Again, these situations sure happen enough in male MC novels, but it doesn’t mean I can accept it either way.

So, grumbling aside, the novel is entertaining to read if you’re in the mood to read about a woman conquering beautiful men and them turning possessive over her and clinging all the way, despite her only wish to be a free player. It has its fair share of comedy. I’m especially amused by her father (who really dotes on her), who’s getting confused by how many suitors his daughter has and only wonders which one she intends to marry.
