2005 jeep grand cherokee 4.7 transmission control module location

hello, first post here as well. im not going to make a new thread just yet if i dont have to so ill bump this thread.im in upstate ny. My 05 grand cherokee laredo, v6 3.7 AWD automatic is acting as though the tranny is slipping and i pulled a p0700 code then scanned it with a transmission scanner and pulled p1637. I am leaning toward replacing the transmission control module at this point but i would like to hear from others with experience first if im on the right track.

the jeeps drivability is getting pretty bad now..it always shifts but acts like its skipping when you try to accelerate. at times it acts like it should stay in 2nd or 3rd gear longer but will shift to drive and lug down and start skipping and bucking until i floor it to have it shift down and get going. Before the light came on i thought it was the plugs or something because it almost acts as though its missfiring but i guess its in the tranny according to the codes that are coming up now.
thanks.

I have an 06 Jeep Commander 4.7.155000. I live in the mountains. On occasions my jeep would go into limp mode an be stuck in 3rd. I would have to reset the computer. I warning across my dash. Transmission over temp. First I put an extra transmission cooler on. That helped. After I did that my jeep sometimes would have no acceleration. I got irritated an ran my VIN. Come to find out the jeep had federal recalls for the computer. There is a transmission recall. A transfer case recal and a ABS recall. took it to the dealership they programmed an update. My jeep runs like a raped ape. So I would suggest running your vin. The hole in the wall dealer I baught it from gave me a car fax. That didn't show any of these issues. Took me 6 months to figure this out.

If replacing the TCM doesn't solve the issue, you may need a new PCM.
