Here is a very simple and flavor-packed chicken breast marinade recipe using only 2 ingredients.  The easiest way to do this is to get yourself a 1-gallon freezer bag, drop in the soy sauce and dressing, then drop in 3-5 chicken breasts.  Let marinate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for more flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4c Soy Sauce
  • 1/2c Italian Dressing

Directions

  1. Mix Soy Sauce and Italian Dressing in a 1-gallon ziploc bag
  2. Add between 3-5 chicken breasts
  3. Let marinade for 4 hours or overnight
  4. For best results, grill or bake in the oven

Chicken Breasts vs. Chicken Thighs vs. Chicken Tenderloins

While I typically use chicken breast for this recipe, chicken thighs and chicken tenderloins will also work! Chicken thighs will be darker meat, and I like them for grilling as they tend to be more tender and moist after cooked. The chicken tenderloins will have a similar look to chicken breasts, but are typically more tender than breasts. They are found next to the breast in the chicken, and come in smaller pieces, meaning they will cook faster. If you want smaller pieces of chicken breast, simply cut the breasts into slices prior to marinating. Then adjust your cooking time accordingly.

How to Make Grilled Italian Chicken

This recipe could not be easier to make. To start, I recommend pounding out the chicken breasts so they are about even thickness throughout. This helps the chicken cook evenly and it will also cook faster if there isn’t one end that is super thick.

Next, combine the Italian marinade ingredients. This includes the Italian dressing, soy sauce, honey, and garlic powder. There is no need for additional salt in this recipe, as there is plenty of it in the dressing. Combine the chicken and marinade in a Tupperware container or a Ziploc bag and marinate the chicken breasts for at least 30 minutes, up to 8 hours.

Once you’re ready to cook, preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Add the chicken to the preheated grill and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side. I always use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked through to 165 degrees F, as cooking time may vary depending on thickness of the chicken.

Serve, and enjoy!
