These buffalo-style grilled chicken wings take 20 minutes on the grill and they are finger lickin’ good! You can also broil them in the oven.

For a good crowd pleaser option, you can’t go wrong with chicken wings. They are fairly simple to make considering that you can cook them in so many different ways. For example, you can certainly bake chicken wings, or cook them in a pan, or even microwave chicken wings. (Google it. It’s no joke!)

In this recipe, we are going to put our wings on the grill while having a beer. If you don’t have a grill, not to worry. You can also make the wings using the broiler in your oven. We will get to that shortly.

For now, let’s see how to make these buffalo-style grilled chicken wings.

Season The Chicken Wings

As for the seasoning, in addition to salt and pepper, I added a pinch of cayenne pepper for a nice kick. This is optional, especially if you plan to use a hot buffalo sauce.

Grill The Chicken Wings

Preheat grill to medium-high heat and spray the grill grate with cooking spray or brush with cooking oil. When grilling chicken wings, you want nice evenly browned wings instead of grilling marks on one side. So make sure to flip them occasionally. Chicken is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

Dip The Wings In The Buffalo Sauce

The buffalo sauce is cooked with butter ver medium heat on the stove. When your chicken wings are ready, dip them in the warm sauce immediately and then plate. If you have extra sauce, pour it into a small bowl and serve it aside.

Now, if you’d like to cook the chicken wings indoor, you can broil them. Before you insert the wings in your oven, I’d suggest you boil them in some seasoned water on the stove first. This will help you achieve your ultimate chicken wing goal – tender inside and crispy outside!

To season the water, you can use the same seasonings stated in the recipe below or add other seasonings that you desire. Be sure to use a generous amount so that the chicken wings can pick up the flavor after boiling. Put them under the broiler to continue cooking until the skin is crispy and the chicken is thoroughly cooked through. When it comes to the last step, you know what to do – dip the wings into the buffalo sauce before serving! Enjoy!

  4. Use tongs to place the seasoned wings on the grate and grill, covered, flipping occasionally for about 20 minutes or until the wings are golden brown and completely cooked through.
  5. While the wings are cooking, combine the buffalo sauce and butter in a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes or until the butter is completely blended into the sauce.

Notes

For an oven method: Place chicken wings in a large pot. Fill it with water until the wings are just covered by the water. Add a pinch of salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil, drain, and transfer wings to a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. (Use two baking sheets if necessary.) Place the wings on the middle rack of your oven, broil on high for 12-15 minutes per side. If your wings are closer to the broiler, cut down the time to 7-10 minutes per side.
