How to make a call go straight to voicemail on android

Getting tired of someone calling over and over again? For those using a phone running the Android operating system (OS), there is a quick and simple method for sending any call to voicemail. The best part is, there are no downloads needed; just a few tweaks of the settings and good-bye to annoying calls!

   Open the Phone app. Open the Application (App) Drawer located at the bottom right of the main screen. Scroll through the apps and open the Phone app (phone icon).

   • If you have the phone icon on your home screen, tap on it there.

   Select the keypad. If not already open, select the keypad from the top 4 menu items listed in the phone app. It should be on the far top left.

   Open the menu options. Tap on the Menu key located to the left of the physical Home button. A menu should pop up at the bottom of the screen with 4 different options available.

   • If there is no physical buttons on the device, look for 3 vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Tapping this should bring up the same menu.

   Tap the “Call Settings” option. This will open a menu with a list of options that will control how calls are taken on the Android device.

   Open the Call Rejection menu. From this menu, select the “Call rejection” option. This should be the first option on the top of the menu. It will open to a page with only two options: “Auto reject mode” and “Auto reject list.”

   Open the Auto Reject List. Select the second option, “Auto reject list.” Note that at the top of this menu there should be “Auto reject list (0/100),” or something similar. This means that there are 0 contacts currently on the reject list, and only up to 100 people are able to be added to this list..

   Add a number to the Auto Reject List. Under “Auto reject list (0/100),” there should be the word “Create” followed by a plus (+) sign. Tap the plus sign. This should open to a new menu where the contact, or contacts, can be added to the reject list.

   • In the box where it says “Enter number,” a number of the person being blocked may be entered manually.
   • Also tapping on the picture icon located on the right side of the “Enter number” box will bring up a menu that says Search at the top. Under it will be two options: Logs and Contacts. Selecting “Logs” will bring up a menu containing the call log history. Selecting “Contacts” will bring up any Contacts currently stored on the device. Simply tapping on the name of any contact, or number, listed on these menus will select those numbers and return to the previous menu with that contact, or phone number, automatically being entered into the “Enter number” box.
   • Only one contact can be added to the “Auto reject list” at a time.

   Save changes to the list. Once the number that has been selected appears in the “Enter number” box, tap the “Save” button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to add the contact to the “Auto reject list.”

   • Returning to the main menu, it should now read “Auto reject list (1/100)” or something similar. There should be the number, or numbers, that have been added listed below. These are now on the Auto Reject List, and people calling from these numbers will be automatically redirected to your voicemail.

   Open Contact List. Open the App Drawer, and tap the Contacts icon. The icon may differ depending on your set theme, but usually it looks like a silhouette of the upper part of a person in a colored square. Tapping the icon will open the Contacts List.

   Open a contact’s profile. Tap once on any contact name, and this will open the contact’s profile.

   Open the profile menu. Once inside the contact profile, tap the “Menu” button located on the bottom of the phone to the right of the little house icon. This should bring up a menu with four options.

   Open the profile’s Options menu. Select “Options” in the lower left-hand corner. This will open a new menu that should have two options: “Ringtone” at the top, and “Incoming calls” underneath, with a little check box on the right side of the screen.

   Block the contact. Tap the check box to send the selected contact’s number directly to the block list.

• To remove those previously added to the “Auto reject list” in the first method (Android 4.3), simply tap on the check boxes to the right of each name on the list. • Note that in Android 2.3.4 there is no bulk list to reference. So it may be important to take note of which numbers have been added to the reject list for future reference. Repeat the steps for this Android version, and uncheck the box (last step) to remove the contact from the block list.
