    French Vanilla Cappuccino

OMG!!! I have finally found a mix like the ones at the gas stations. It is the absolute best and my favorite. It’s not watered down at all. Follow directions as instructed and you will not be disappointed. Received my first bag today and I will be ordering from here on out. I never reviewed products good or bad but I had to do this one because I’ve been searching for this for such a long time! Happy continuing customer!!!

Okay, someone posted a while ago about Starbucks $4.00 coffees and how bad they are for you....my question is about the cappuccinos you buy at the gas station. I have never been a coffee drinker and don't drink any other coffee...just found these last year and quickly became addicted ! They warmed me up all through fall and winter and who can resist the flavors?? Cinnamon graham cracker, smores, hazelnut and cinnamon roll to name a few. In the fall there was pumpkin spice, around Christmas , candy cane....just at Easter I found chocolate Easter egg!!! And they are affordable, unlike Starbucks, these cost around $1 for a large. (Picture me crusing from gas station to gas station to "scope out" the latest flavors ha!) I KNOW they aren't good for me, I know they are loaded with sugar, but does anyone have any idea about the fat/calorie/caffiene content??? How can I find out? I have pretty much given up dessert, which I used to eat regularly and have these in place, but still, it's not unusual when it's cold to have one or even two LARGE drinks a day!!
Anyone else drink these?
Maybe summer will lesson the cravings, but then watch me replace this addiction with DAIRY QUEEN!!! EEEK!!!

I think Glamour did a comparison last month or this of all these big fancy coffee type drinks and found that basically, you're drinking 500-1000 calories per drink. I can't imagine that the gas station ones are any less than the others, and they're probably worse because they're made with horrid chemical flavourings, etc. Sorry. I wish the news was better.

I am probably not the best preson to ask this to because I am a Starbuck's drinker. Not so much the drinks but defiently the coffee. On the other hand I love the cappuccino drinks at my 7-11. My favorite is pumpkin spice and bananas foster. When my mom was doing weight watchers I think a 16oz had 3 points. Not so bad for a treat but don't quote me on it. Karen

I agree with Shelley. I have to add that I wouldn't touch that stuff with a ten foot pole! Brrrrr. Gives me the shivers thinking of drinking that stuff.

Becky, I can find out for you but it won't be until Monday. (I know someone who distributes the cappuccino mixes to convenience stores.)

Thank you Jk and everybody who responded. I would like to find out for sure if you don't mind checking with your friend. My thought was (maybe I am fooling myself?) that unlike at Starbucks, there is no one there adding whipped cream and chocolate shavings and all the things that make it fattening. I thought it is probably a whole or 2% milk, which I know isn't great and in the rest of my diet I use Lite soy milk or ff milk....but I thought that amount COULDNT be THAT bad for me. Also concerning the caffiene, on the few occasions I've tried a Starbucks drink , I am BUZZING on caffiene afterwards (other than these drinks I have next to no caffiene in my diet), and never have felt that way after drinking one of these....so I thought maybe it was more like a flavored hot chocolate ??
I honestly never thought about the chemical additives.
Maybe thinking about that will help me lose the habit.
Thanks everyone.

Yum...I wish my Mobil Gas Station had cappuccino
I'll need to check out 7-11. I love cappuccino.

One tip...I do have a favorite deli that has a wonderful French Vanilla Cappuccino machine. I could easily drink many of these. What I do is, when I get one, I take a large (16 oz) coffee cup, fill about 2/3 of the way with black coffee, and then add the capp to that. That way, it kind of cuts the cals/fat, but keeps the flavor.

Enjoy your cappuccino in moderation, life is too short to give up these small pleasures!

I hate to be the bearer of BAD news but I also got addicted to those gas station cappuccinos last year. I was buying the 24 oz. size!!! Long story short, I decided to E-mail the company that made them. (I saw a wrapper in the trash with their company name & E-mail address on it. I don't USUALLY go thru trash cans! ;-)) and asked them if they could send me the nutritional info. I was drinking a WHOPPING 40 grams of fat in each cup. That cured me fast. I now do what Michelle suggested if I feel the need to have one. I was surprised how good they still taste by adding 3/4 coffee and 1/4 cappuccino. I was battling fat deposits bigtime last year and truly believe that this was helping to keep it on me! That and a knee injury. Try the minimal cappuccino and more coffee mixture to see if that works. BTW, I LOVE the pumpkin spice flavor. YUUUM!

If you want an eye opener....let the cup sit until tomorrow in a cold car. Then try pouring it out and observe what you see. It's like thick motor oil. That ALONE should help cure you. I have bought them in the past once in a blue moon for my son and noticed this while pouring it out the next day. Once in a while I will have one and I do exactly what Michelle suggests....fill the cup almost all the way with coffee and add a shot of cappucino - I've seen lots of people doing this lately. And then limit yourself to one or two per week. :7 :7 :7

Hey Debbie....I just saw YOUR thread and wanted add that I think you're BEYOND the best (but your thread is WAY too long for me to open right now). You'll have to print off the thread and read it on days when you need some encouragement. I have a feeling the threads going to get a LOT longer so you better be patient!!! :7 :7 :7

Usually when you buy a cappuccino at a gas station they are a pre-mix with water, you can usually buy the same thing at the store. This is your standard gas station of course that has that little machines and all you do is hit the button. So if you interested, go to your super market, grab a packet and see what's it in, and what your dinking, there will be a few differences but you'll have all the basics. My father is the general manager of 10 different gas station in my area so I end up knowing where the products come from. Usually cappuccino comes from Cadallic coffee, or the one that you buy in a red bucket at the store that starts with an F, which name I have forgotten. Those two are the biggest sellers to gas station stores.

Hope that helps,

Kit

Is the red bucket Folgers?
Okay, thank you. I do buy the cappuccino that you add water to at the grocery store (Folgers, Hills Bros. etc) and I know it is only 2-5 grams of fat depending on what you get. Of course that is for 8 ounces and at the gas station they have cups that are 24 ounces, so that would definately change the amount of fat you are getting.
Obviously the "gas station cappuccino isn't a health drink.....but I was concerned that I was getting the massive amount of fat that you get in a Starbucks drink(such as Venti Mocha Coconut Frappuchino blended coffee, which is 710 calories and 26 grams of fat, or the Grande Caramel Mocha which is 470 calories and 21 grams of fat!!) And I didn't want that at all!
I think I need to cut down and think of it as an occasional treat and not something I look forward to every single day.
I didn't have one yesterday and in place of it found this recipe:
1 cup ff milk
1 cup ice cubes
1 pkg no sugar carnation instant breakfast energy drink
1 t. instant coffee
1/8 t. cinnamon
Put in blender and enjoy
It was awesome.
Today I fixed a cappuccino drink at home (it was very chilly this morning!) 3 grams of fat
I think the suggestion a few people made about filling the cup mostly with coffee is a good one, but I don't want to start drinking coffee when it hasn't been a part of my diet for over 15 years, if that makes any sense.
Take care everyone and thanks for all your reponses!
