Unless you want to be stuck in (near) silence, you’ll need to investigate the issue. Usually, when the volume and other buttons stop working, you can replace the batteries and be good to go.

1. Change the Batteries in Roku Remote

Make sure you have a fresh set of AA batteries—swap them out in the remote and see if the volume rocker starts working.

If the volume still isn’t working, but other buttons are, continue with the following troubleshooting steps.

2. Clean Your Volume Buttons

The volume buttons could be dirty if you’ve had the remote for several years. Check the volume and other buttons on your Roku remote to make sure they’re free of dirt or grime that’s stopping them from working.

To reset your Roku, unplug it from its power source for 10-15 seconds and plug it back in. Wait while the Roku device restarts.
