Many questioned VR’s longevity in both the gaming space and general tech world but instead of slowly succumbing to the depths, it has kicked on, with companies like Oculus pushing the boundaries of what’s possible hardware-wise. The Oculus Quest 2 is a VR headset that is just that. It removes the tethers that once bound you to your PC, enabling you to have a more immersive experience. One other thing it allows you to do is to cast to various devices around your home, allowing others to see exactly what you can so they can get in on the fun also. Below, we’re going to be providing you with all the steps you need to follow if you want to cast your Quest 2 on a TV, PC, or phone so you don’t encounter any potential problems along the way. 1 If you’re looking for a bit more room to move around in, you might want to head to your front room and enable yourself to fully stretch those arms out for a true VR experience. Additionally, while VR is usually a solo experience, you can cast what you’re seeing onto your larger screen TV and allow others to get involved. What you will need, however, is either a casting-enabled TV or one with a casting device plugged into it. A Google Chromecast is a good option here. STEP 1 Turn on both your Quest 2 headset and the TV you want to cast to and make sure they’re on the same WiFi network. STEP 2 Pick up your Quest 2 controller and press the Oculus button located on the bottom right. STEP 3 Pressing the Oculus button will bring up a menu. Look for the icon that has an arrow, also known as the Share option, and click it. STEP 4 Another menu will appear with various options. Choose the Cast button on the left-hand side. STEP 5 You will now be presented with all the available casting options. Find your TV in the list and press Next. STEP 5 Confirm your choice to cast to your TV and you should be good to go. 2 Casting to your TV might be a little disruptive, especially in a family home, so casting instead to your PC’s monitor could be a better option. Moreover, if you’re a content creator, for example, it might make it easier for you to capture your Quest 2’s output ready to upload it on your YouTube channel. Casting your Quest 2 to your PC follows a similar process to casting to your TV but requires a couple of different steps. Here’s everything you need to know: STEP 1 Turn on both your Quest 2 headset and the PC you want to cast to and make sure they’re on the same WiFi network. STEP 2 Open up your web browser on your PC (Chrome is preferred) and head to https://www.oculus.com/casting/. STEP 3 Log into your Oculus account when prompted. STEP 3 Pick up your Quest 2 controller and press the Oculus button located on the bottom right. STEP 4 Pressing the Oculus button will bring up a menu. Look for the icon that has an arrow, also known as the Share option, and click it. STEP 5 Within the Share menu, choose Cast. STEP 6 Now, within the Casting screen, choose the Computer option and you should now be able to see your Quest 2’s output on your screen. 3 Last, but no means least in Quest 2 casting, is to your phone. While there are certainly limited use cases for casting your Quest to such a small device, there are times when it could be useful. STEP 1 To cast your Quest 2 to your phone, simply follow all of the above instructions for either casting to your TV but instead, hit the Oculus App option. This requires you to have said app installed on your device as well as it being on the same WiFi network so ensure that is good to go before attempting to cast. 4 If you’re all done with your Quest 2 casting endeavors, you’ll also need to know how to stop. STEP 1 This is a pretty simple process as all you’ll have to do is to head back to the Share menu that you were just in and hit the Cast option. Once clicked, confirm your selection and you will now have stopped casting from your Quest 2.
