Video Review & InstallationHey, guys. Today, I'm here with the Smittybilt factory style replacement tailgate bar and tailgate bar retainers, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers. So, if you have a soft top, you know that this is one of the pieces of the puzzle to keep your soft top secured to your Jeep. But they can wear out and break over time, and this is gonna serve as a perfect replacement. This is even gonna be a perfect solution for somebody who's switching from a hard top over to a soft top and needs all of those components, like I said, to secure it down to your Wrangler. And this is even gonna be good, as well, if you're getting a duster, Tonneau cover, or a deck cover, whatever you wanna call this, and you need to secure this and have this seal up against your tailgate. So, at the moment, this will be your most affordable option at $40. So you will be seeing other options on the page right now by brands like Bestop or Rugged Ridge, but really the only difference in that is the brand. So if they are a factory-style replacement, then they will be set up, really, the exact same way to fit on your Wrangler. So if you're not looking to get an aftermarket replacement and you're looking to get a Mopar replacement right out of the factory, you will be paying a premium. Something like this, this is still gonna get the job done and do the same exact thing that the Mopar one does. It definitely gets the job done and is a perfect solution, in my personal opinion. So, install's gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It only took me five minutes to do. This just slides on. You don't need any tools. You don't need any prior experience to get this on. So, speaking of the install, let's jump to that now. So, your first step to uninstalling your factory tailgate and your tailgate bars is just going to be to open up the tailgate. Then, in order to gain access to our tailgate and the retainers, I am just going to pull back here and unzipper a little bit of our rear window. So this is just gonna give us access to take this off, so we can do that for both sides. And then we will be able to pull the tailgate bar forward and lift out. And then it's as easy as just sliding it off. So what we can do next is just pull up on the back of our retainer and pop it off. So what I usually like to do for you guys is sit our products down on a table, side by side, next to our stock components and compare the differences and the similarities between the two. With this, I'm not gonna do that, just because this is a stock replacement. This is gonna be set up exactly the same. This is just gonna be made a different brand. You're still getting a very similar tailgate bar. You still get the C-channel. Very easily installable on your soft top rear window, or on any Tonneau cover, deck cover, whatever you like to call them. So, they are gonna be basically the same thing and install the same way. So what we're gonna do is just pull this forward and clip that on. They are side-specific. They do have a little stamp on the back saying right-hand and left-hand side, and you will be able to see that with this raised edge here. This is going to help put that tailgate bar in there. So, after our retainers are installed, we can slide our rear window, or whatever you are securing down to your tailgate, in the C-channel of our tailgate bar. So, you wanna make sure that it is oriented in the correct way. What you can do to figure that out is just to put the tailgate bar inside of the retainers before you even put it on your rear window, and that will kind of give you an idea of how it will fit, and if it will seal up against the tailgate. That is looking good so far. So we can pull this back out and we can reattach the back of our soft top. So, making sure that that is pushed into place and rolled over, you can go ahead and close your tailgate. So, that's gonna wrap it up for my quick review and install on the Smittybilt factory style tailgate bar and retainer kit, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers.
